BT to AMEX - which cards are compatible?

Hello
I would like to do a Balance Transfer into my AMEX account. Proving tricky, so far Sainsburys have refused to do it as the shorter AMEX card number is not compatible with their systems, I think.
Has anyone had any recent success with a BT to AMEX please? Which card did you use?
Thank you!

Santander couldn't do a transfer to my Amex card. I tried multiple times but their systems just sent the money back after a while, and despite raising a complaint, no one had any idea why it failed. I ended up using a no fee money transfer to my account from MBNA and then transferring that balance to the Santander account.
