Paying off a credit card with another credit card for points

Hello,

I currently have two credit cards with zero balances. The first is AMEX British Airways. I use this for work expenses (fuel, train tickets etc.) and pay this off monthly. I’ve just taken a second credit card out, the Halifax Clarity credit card. This card also has a zero balance, I’m yet to use it. My reason for taking this card out is, I go on holiday next month and I’ll be taking advantage of the ‘no fees overseas’ feature. I have my spending money in my current account, I just wanted to take a travel credit card out to ensure I get the best exchange rate.

My question is - is it possible to pay off my Halifax credit card with my British Airways credit card (in order to get the air miles) and then immediately pay off my BA card with my debit card?

Thanks in advance

No. It would either be a cash transaction or a BT, neither of which will attract air miles, but will attract fees and interest.
  • Paying off a credit card with another credit card is called a balance transfer - usually attracting interest and/or a fixed fee.
