    Greetings. Could you please tell me if it is possible to change the currency in the downloaded version of the spreadsheet to another currency (not UK pounds)? I would like to change it to South African Rands. Many thanks

    The spreadsheet is described as "OpenOffice compatible". Is it also LibreOffice compatible? The latter product is favoured over the former these days and MSE itself doesn't give OpenOffice a mention when suggesting free software.

    i have a MAC pc, when i right hand click it does not give me the option to save. i'm having the same issue with the spreadsheet, it's asking me for a password.

    Hi there. I'm little confused as to what figure I should be entering for 'pension' under the INCOME of 'What do you earn' section on the budget sheet vs the figure that should be entered for 'pension' in SAVINGS AND INVESTMENTS of the 'What do you spend' section. Please can someone shed some light on this? Thanks

    Hi, is there a version of the spreadsheet that compatible with Numbers, the Apple equivalent of Excel? I think some columns and formulae are missing.

    I'm new to the site and have started to use the Budget Planner, I'm struggling to understand how to record some things, I'm also new to trying to actively save money rather than just spend it!

    I' going through my last 3 months of statements and I understand that to get a monthly spend I'm adding up regular but variable amounts (such as food shopping) and dividing by 3 to get the average spend.

    But what do I do with the one offs? For instance, money spent on gifts & money spent on celebrations for a graduation (a one off not going to happen again), decorating that we've carried out in the last 3 months. Do I put in the amounts over the 3 months and divide by 3 or enter them in as an annual cost?

    What you should do is plan(budget) ahead for at least 12months.

    What are the decorating plans for the next 12months
    What are the gift plans for the next 12month
    What food will we need in the next 12months

    The go back over X month is just to get an estimate for each category.

    X really needs to be 12 months to catch everything not 3, but 3 may be good enough for some things that are more regular.
