I'm assuming it wasn't the Tsiolkovsky rocket equation then bop
A day that could have been disastrous turned out surprisingly well...
    1) cluster meeting in edinburgh. mrpiano offered to take me to Leuchars station as he was teaching in st andrews
    2) disaster - train cancelled. however had masters dissertation on lap top so decided to buy a coffee and go to the waiting rooom
    3) disaster - only £1.04 in purse. Was sure i had more but further search only revealed another 10p - still not enough for a coffee or even a tea
    4) disgruntled went to buy ticket, wondering if they did cash back. pair in front of me were discussing whether to still go to edinburgh or call it a day. the 3rd in their party was joining them at Cupar so they decided they were going to drive. guess what i did next...
    5) very nice being driven to murrayfield. friend slightly puzzled to see me in back of car. i said shhh i snuck in, they don't know :rotfl:
    6) took taxi to workshop, did some excellent networking, walked back with new acquaintance to station, used spare ticket, met mrpiano at leuchars and home by 7 to very apologetic dd2. she had borrowed £20 from my purse to go out, got the money to pay me back but didn't realise i'd be leaving early. well if she had i wouldn't have had my little adventure:beer:

    Pleasures for today (Thursday).

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Off to town to hand in bigger son's college place acceptance form, get him some shorts from TKMaxx and a celeriac from Sainsburys.

    3) Got 8 bags of soil improver from the tip.

    4) Hens well. Sorted the allotment (muck and soil improver) and planted 15 pumpkin and courgette plants and 9 sweetcorn. That'll make a bit of space on my windowsills!

    5) Smaller son brought his cooking home from school - a marvellous lemon meringue pie.

    6) My brother popped round (for a bit of pie!)

    7) Watched Ambulance. (Which upset me as a great chunk was the exact place where smaller son was whizzed from an ambulance into Resus).

    8) In bed with 1hwb now.

It's another glorious morning but cooler, so & has just come in for cardigan while early outside for sits, birdy listens, reads, look abouts.

    1. Another Spits done - up at 2 bells, back at 1 bell. ipso facto, old lady longhaul heavy lugging days continue. Felt it when loading up again last night, finished 2240h. Heavy rain much of way down and there made unloading horror. Trade decent d.g., as & must rebuild savings/replacement Meriva expenses. Spirits really lift when a 3-£ig sale comes - and early. Likeable ephemera man hunts'n'gathers around 6, and was indeed v. interested in &'s recent cache of old airline luggage labels and stickers and flyers from just post-war>late 50s. That sale set the tone. So relieved. Bonus joy - spoke in French with 4 families of buyers. It helps so much and really is a mutual pleasure.

    2. Opening immaculate cleaned fridge, having forgotten task done.

    3. Spits friends'/fellows' 'Welcome Back' greetings and apparent concern. & never expects any things like this and is always taken by surprise.

    4. Thinking something through.

    5. Enjoying the latest Rumpoles:

and, of course, the continuing delices of.High Table, Lower Orders

Yes, think they will mesh nicely. Liked Tom hugely when met last year, & having taken decades to finally get to Lullingstone.

Glad you are loving Barcelona, mhags - don't forget Casa Batlo. Long ago, & and R were left suspended for over an hour over the Med. on the cable car thingy, down past Christopher Columbus statue on the beach, No idea if it's still there.
Some great ballon ovale finals coming up tonight and tmrw. The Alma might have to be visited;-)
YouBeaut vendredis à tout et à tous with matching w/e's.

No thanks button - again - so apologies for none given.

Oh, yes, dd. Custard tarts are &'s pref., too. rtc emporium accidentals are best. & draws distinction btwen h-m and shop-bought. Equal but different, both splendid....and any of younger son's lemon meringue leftovers would be v.welcome, too, thankyou Frith.
    Back outside now-)))

    Morning all

An 'at home' day (and weekend) - much welcomed. It's nice gadding about 'but it's oh so much nicer to be home'.

    Pleasures for yesterday

    1. weighed myself for the first time in 10 days. another 2lb off and my waist line has reappeared
    2. early train to london. some good walks to station here and then from euston and back
    3. Popped into Planet Organic on the way to uni and bought two tins of jackfruit (a fruit that can act as a meat substitute) will work out something to do with them next week. possibly fajitas. And bought my tea
4 colloquium was... meh. Mostly boring for me as the subjects were such that i couldn't relate. Lots of quantitative research, figures and formulae. My presentation went well though and i got good feedback with a couple of things to think about so it did it's job.
    5. DD and I went to a local Am Dram performance of Avenue Q - I am trying to get her involved. Both to use her skills and from a socialisation point of view. One of her high school friends was in it which has encouraged her. He walked onto the stage and we virtually yelled "It's LUKE" :rotfl: What has encouraged her more, however, was the quality of the performance - head and shoulders above the one we saw in our home town a few weeks ago. this one is about 8 miles away. They are doing My Fair lady next and she is planning to audition :T

    Have a good day all
I wanna be in the room where it happens
  • DD Every equation is derived from a simple second order equation!

V Millwright’s has been out and about again, and us with our hands dirty in the boiler house are excluded because no one likes the hands! He’s has only got some cloth coming out way and we need a new grains store as well! Pockets, deep ones, are lined!

4 Thinking &! I has something later that will put her hairy men in the quire at the local kirk! See later, but please no showing to your mother, she’ll not like them! Has bin meaning to do it for ages!

3 In the packed lunch box of BoP today we has remembered the Bourneville. Two helpings as you cannot miss out on yesterdays offering. Tum is rubbed. Mushroom egg custard tart, salad, new tatties, cheese and a club. Two cakes of jaffa has also been packed!

2 Nite Glawster are playing the taffs of Cardiff, next to the river taff! Wobbleade shall be consumed!

But you can if you try!
