Yeah , it's horses for courses regarding energy suppliers and tariffs.
The annoying thing when I was living in my last property ( and of course in debt), I randomly got letters from edf advising me that they would be changing the direct debit amount . I was sticking my head in the sand a lot back then . What it meant was that, I was owing them Monet at the end of the year. It may seem mad, but I prefer it his way

Speaking of savings , on Friday I opened up a savings Acct with Skipton . As I have recently come out of my d m p, I wanted to put a few thousand away for a rainy day/ thunderstorm should anything happen. I thought it best to avoid the links to my previous creditors and this seemed the best way forward for now. It's a 40 day notice or something similar . Rates are crap but I felt like I had to do something to split what I have left. I have a lot of the depressing stuff to think about in the next few weeks , but I'm trying to think about that when I really need to . After spending the right amount of time recuperating , I have started to adjust and hopefully the depressing things won't be too depressing .

    Hi AC

I'm a long time lurker and hope you don't mind me jumping in, but for comparison my partner and I live in a 1990s flat, not especially warm, no gas at all so heating is from storage heaters. Our electricity is £60 per month averaged out over the year, including heating and hot water and also including a little wiggle room in case of a cold winter.

I would definitely recommend taking the time to switch all your electricals off and on again one by one and watch your meter to get an idea of how much energy each of them uses. Even if you don't change how you use them now, you will know who the main culprits are in terms of electricity use and if you need to cut costs at any point you will have a good starting point!

Hello toe dipper. Nice of you to drop by :)
Good points raised there. It's something I'll look into . Thanks:):)

AC I am sure you are turning stuff off at the wall and not leaving on standby? I reduced my electricity by £50 per quarter a few years back when I started turning the plug socket off each night on the TV. I have "trained" the family to do the same!

    Hi AC.

Just dropping by to give you my news.....

I have accepted an offer on my house. FTB so hopefully a nice e straightforward sale.

I have a viewing for a property for me to buy tomorrow. Fingers crossed it's "the One" and the vendor isnt in a long chain. If they are then I shall rent for a while if I have to because I do not want to lose this sale. I can then either wait for that house or carry on looking.....probably both.

So hopefully it's all systems go.

Re energy.....I am quite a lot in credit too. I'm letting it ride for now, I can sort it out when I move. If I do buy the house I'm thinking about it is less energy efficient than this one, so until I can upgrade heating system, insulation etc it might be useful to have a little wriggle room for next winter. I don't like being cold and I don't want to be fretting as I watch the meter whizzing round. :rotfl:

Have you looked at getting a smart meter. They are free and they will tell you exactly how much energy you are using.

Busy times LL:) All sounds good .
Regarding the energy supply. I'll just leave it as it is. All of the companies are the same . I notice that all of the meters are the same in the communal area. If one of my neighbours went to a smart meter, I may consider but not in any rush.

Had a nice weekend , and had a couple of ciders in an empty pub. Doors open , fresh air and I successfully managed to avoid the royal wedding . I saw wills and Kate's marriage and Charles & Diana. I couldn't be less bothered this time around due to the celebrity side of things.

Got a rejection from the job I applied for, but tbh I was just dipping my toe in the water and I knew it wasn't for me anyway.
My 2 biggest hurdles now: getting a part time job, and reduce my size:)
Speaking of my size, I had my 6 monthly dental appointment . The receptionist told me I lost weight . I contacted the secretary of my specialist to see if I could reduce my prednisolone intake from 5 mg to 3 mg . Last sept it was reduced from 7.5 mg to 5 mg . My March appointment has been put back to July , so I may be able to .
I should know tomorrow . The angle I'm going for , is that if I can have less steroid ( hopefully none in time ) then the weight should fall off.
Just made a mistake washing clothes this morning . When I was cleaning the outside of the machine , I must've knocked the button. It went straight to spin . I will wait till it has done its cycle and redo it.:rotfl:

We came backfrom our holiday in Swanage on Saturday, and because of the wedding and the football, the roads were very quiet, especially for a Saturday. It was great!

Everywhere in Swanage was advertising for staff, so I expect Poole will be the same, so it's a good time to look for work. Have you signed up to any agencies yet?

    Thanks enthusiastic /Gigervamp :)
Hope the holiday was good gigervamp . I aim to email agencies within the next few days with a revamped cv. My friend has it at the moment
I find it a pita to try and get everything on 2 pages. The covering letter making it 3. Would you believe there was only one line out , which made the cv 3 pages. Still, it's good to get constructive criticism / feedback on my efforts.:)
Once it is done, I will email over to various agencies and see what gives.

I had the misfortune of watching the cup final. Billions of pounds on the pitch ,and the only goal was a penalty. Truly awful. I used to love football, but it has changed so much and I just take it or leave it.

Just had another session with mr. Trainer. It went well . Place was packed . He is still happy with my performance , which means I am.
What I do like about his methods is every session seems to vary a lot and there is a lot to learn. This time last year I was breathless and struggling . I just need to keep going and not look back if possible .
    I'll get there :)

We had a lovely time thanks. Got another week booked in September!

How irritating about that one line making your CV 3 pages!

Sounds like the training is going well and doing you good.

Well, the legs seem to be getting a lot more flexible now and I seem to be moving faster when going about my business. Had a blood test on Tuesday . Was supposed to be having one every six weeks apparently , but my new doctor says 12 weeks is sufficient . Hopefully all is well and I won't have to have another one until august.

I was pondering over my bed in the bedroom again , wondering if the bed I have at present should stay or go. When I had problems with the worn out mattress and the weight gain over the years in my last flat , one issue I had was driving me insane ..the pillows/ bolsters kept falling between the gap in the space where normal beds have a headboard. Trendy bed . So, that brings me to my new flat and I had the same problem intermittently despite buying a new firm mattress in Beales . (Yes, the great shop I spent lots in last year:rotfl::o)
This brings me to the next paragraph..

On Tuesday I went into Beales and had a look around at the beds.
For some reason , some of the beds looked bigger than mine .odd really as mines a king size . So, I walked away .
Then I decided to check my bedframe more throughly and , it seems I've fixed the problem. Basically I moved the base further up towards the headboard area. Problem now solved. I can't believe how silly I've been . :rotfl: Idiot . This means one thing ..the bed stays. Final answer . One other thing . I have a rewards card which came in very handy when buying the essential furniture there etc. I got free delivery at various times / prices further reduced etc.
I looked at the card history . I noticed that at one time last year , I had over67,000 points which equates to £67.00
I was wondering why they magically disappeared in a few weeks.
I called the helpline . Apparently I was sent a voucher to spend last year, but it expired before I had a chance to use it. TBH , I cannot remember if I received it or not . So, I have just received a voucher to spend in Beales for £67.00. I will not make the same mistake again .
I'm just trying to think of what I'll be putting it towards.

I have one outstanding job clutter wise. I was in Wilko on Tuesday and bought a few archive type boxes flat packed. In the hallway, there are a few plastic crates that need to be emptied .once that task is done , then I've just got to find the right place for the filled boxes to be stored ( not there:rotfl:).
If I remember rightly , then this Saturday is the anniversary of me taking stuff out of big yellow storage and moving everything in here.
Next Friday , June 1st is the anniversary of me moving out of the rented flat and straight in here . The blinds were fitted just in time .
