Trainline insurance

I experienced train disruption en route to Heathrow to catch a flight. Luckily I managed to get a National Bus as an alternate so that I didn't miss my flight. I purchased rail travel insurance when I bought my ticket and now am getting the run around from ERV the insurance provider. Its basically worthless! Save your money, its not worth the paper its printed on. Shame on you Trainline and ERV. You failed me and I will do everything in my power to tell as many people to avoid ERV in future.

Just looked into what it is and it says it just covers the following (nothing about disruption cover)

Free cancellation if you are unwell
Missed departure
Missed connection
Overnight accommodation
Lost luggage

Using Trainline is never advised, its not MSE.

ERV looks like a conventional travel insurance provider according to their web site https://www.erv.co.uk/
Did you take out a travel insurance policy for the whole of your trip including flights out and back etc?
It would seem that as you made it to the flight and reached your destination in spite of the train disruption they consider you do not have a claim.
However, if you did not use the train ticket which you purchased from trainline, and the reason you didn't use it was the disruption, then you can claim from trainline for the full amount paid, without any administration charge.
