Welcome to the thread PRINZESSILEIN, I’m sure you’ll fit right in here. I hope you’ll share your Christmas Eve traditions with us, it’s so interesting hearing what other people do. You’re doing well with your crafting, I’m still at the thinking stage. Unfortunately the thinking stage is often the furthest I get. There are some great crafters on here though so you’ll be in good company. I like the sound of your nativity too.

Definitely nothing festive going on here but I’ve developed a passion for decoupaging wooden ducks (only four so far) and of course it’s garden season so I’m in sunshine mode at the moment even if the weather isn’t.

VULPIX it’s lovely to see you getting back to being you.

You ok FREE? You’re very quiet.

Hi Prinzessilein, welcome.Call in anytime for a chat.We can chat about everything and nothing here! I like crafting too.At the moment I am knitting baby jumpers. What for I have no idea because there are no babies in the family! I like sewing too, hand sewing is my favourite.I am in the process of making my friend a quilt but she doesn't drive and I can't for a while yet so that has come to a halt as we need wadding and backing material. We sometimes do a craft project on here.If you have any suggestions let us know.Previously we have had a theme and made our own thing. The range of makes was impressive.

What a glorious day.£87.50 proffit and I have a very nice new black coat too.;)

Murie I am on a roll, almost back to my old self.I would not have believed it last October or even just a couple of months ago.

I don't think I told you,I had a brain storm and got 2 rescue cats. They were from a cat hoarder via the RSPCA.They are about 1 now. They had never been socialised and were terrified and in ill health. They are very happy and healthy now.The female is quite tame but the tom is still very timid. He is my favourite. If he was human he would be Idris Elba! She would be Goldie Hawn:rotfl:Sooooo any one fancy a free holiday in the Peak District being butler to my cats?I would hate to put them in a cattery whilst we go away, they probably wouldnt care one bit,but I would think they would feel abandoned:o

    Gotta get some grub on.

    Vx

    Thank you Peppa xx

Well done on the sales Vulpix and great to hear the wheelchair is going to the shed - you're doing amazingly well and hopefully the sunny weather we look to have will give everything a boost too (ok I've just made you sound a bit like a plant - sorry :o:D)

From experience I would say find a nice cattery (visit beforehand) and the cats will be fine - esp if they will share together? It's ok having people come in and feed them when away but we found its better not to have to rely on people and get them used to a cattery while still young - thinking ahead that is they're 1 now, that's another potential 18-19 yrs to consider.

Our current feline was a rescue (well she moved in with us) and virtually feral - now after many years and patience she can be a real lap cat (on her terms) however she is very attached to us rather than territory. So if we are away and have someone come in to feed her, she actually frets more than if we put her in a cattery where she's away from home but doesn't feel that we've abandoned her in the house. Our preferred cattery is a lovely small quiet on that's quite rural - I kid you not that when we pick her up she actually looks quite disappointed to see us and be going home :rotfl:

Kerri,I may have been a plant in a previous life! There is a cattery a couple of miles from us.My problem is no one can even touch Idris never mind catch him.He has come a long way since we got him and is !!!! of the north outside, but around people he is very, very wary.He will take cooked turkey from my hand but just snatches it and runs away.He does seem more attatched to me rather than anyone else though. Some times he will come and sleep on the bed next to me,just out of arms reach of course so you can't touch him.I hope in years to come he will trust enough to settle down like your cat has.It is very heartening to hear a success story.

Afternoon everyone, bless you PEPPAPIG for asking after me, I have been reading but I’ve had a black cloud over me the past month or so, and just felt like I had nothing to say. It’s my youngest twos birthday today, so that’s all my birthdays done except for Thumpers in October, I can get back to Christmas planning now.

VULPIX I’m so glad everything is going well at the moment for you, onwards and upwards! BTW I love Idris Elba too!

GETTINGTHEREQUICKLY I did smile when I read that you have started this years Christmas cakes 😊

    PRINZESSILEIN hi and welcome

NIC well done to your DD she did so well

Vulpix our little flebag was exactly the same when we took her in - we calculated she was 18mths old max and had prob been abandoned between 6mths and a yr old. Honestly, if you tried to pick her up she'd yowl as if you were about to torture her, spent most of the time on our bed (we had another cat then who was actually very tolerant of the little impostor), she'd nip and flinch if you picked up the remote control on the odd occasion she would come into the lounge and the only people she really seemed to like was children who she'd play around in the street.

Gradually she warmed to us and would follow us up the road to the newsagent shop (he nearly had a canary fit when she actually crossed the road and followed us in on one occasion) and gradually figured out we weren't going to abandon her. It was still about 4-5yrs later, and a house move where she really sussed she was staying with us and started enjoying cuddles. So hang in there, it might be a long haul but I also think how awful she must have felt and been treated to end up so distrusting and timid.

KERRI that’s lovely. I’ve often thought about getting a rescue cat. I’ve had two wonderful cats in my life, Alfie and Tara. I had them both from when they were eight weeks old until they were seventeen (although their lives only overlapped for about five years). Both got on fabulously with my dogs and Tara used to tag along with us when we did the evening dog walk. I’m not really a cat person, actually I’m quite wary of other people’s cats, so I’m a bit scared about getting one that I haven’t known from a kitten. Plus DH doesn’t want me to get another one.

Aww Peppa.Mr V didn't want a cat either! So we got 2. I counted up yesterday that I have had 9 cats.Only 2 from being kittens, the rest rescue. They were mostly older cats whose owners had died or gone into a home and were lovely for the last 5 years or so of their lives. My favourite a big ginger tom had lived in a bungalow. He never ever attempted to go upstairs. He was a big softy.I am not a cat mad person either but I couldn't cope with all that having a dog entails.I think having the cats has helped my mental health no end.

Nice to hear from you Free,I always enjoy your posts.xxx
