Compensation for loss of Notice

Hi,

I am hoping someone might be able to help me make sense of this.

I was made redundant without warning several weeks ago. I had been at the company for over 2 years.

I had to make a claim to The Insolvency Service for the following:
- Arrears of Pay Owed
- Holiday Pay
- Redundancy Pay
- Compensation for loss of Notice

Arrears, holiday and redundancy letters/notifications were emailed to me on Saturday and all made sense and were correct (as far as I am aware). This evening I have received by email a letter regarding compensation for loss of notice. It states the following:

The follow payments you received during the notice period have been deducted from your claim:

Money earned -£897.52
Benefits received -£31.32
Benefits you may have been entitled to but did not
claim -£0.00

Your payment for compensation for loss of notice is:
Gross entitlement £357.28
Tax Deducted £71.46
NI Deducted £22.95
Notional Tax Deducted £0.00
Net entitlement £262.87

What I do not understand is why they have deducted -£897.52 money earned. Fair enough the £31.32 I claimed in benefits.

From what I understand is they think I earnt this sum during the notice period?
Is this correct?

I started a new job after 8 working days, so I assumed I'd be stopped 2 working days notice pay.

I certainly did not earn £897.52 for 2 days work during my new job.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! I have emailed them asking for clarification but I expect this to be a slow and confusing response off the insolvency service.

Thank you.

How much holiday pay did you get ?

The only thing I can think of is that if you had been in a position to remain employed for your notice period they could have asked you to take your outstanding holiday during your notice period.

If this was the case then paying you both for untaken holiday and your entire notice period would effectively be paying you twice for the same period of time ?
