Likelyhood of Bank holiday when England win the world cup?

Apologies if I'm miles off with this, but everyone in my office seems to think there is a good chance that we will be given an extra bank holiday if England win the world cup?

Are they miles off with this or could there be an element of truth to it?

    I highly doubt this.

Staff of Aldi & Lidl are going to get to go home at 15:00 if we are in the final.

Just a bit of free publicity for the store, and a way for them to save money as they know there will be hardly anyone about.

Agree, but what's wrong with that?

    Smart move IMO.
Employees will be happy (whether they actually get the time off or not) and company save money on keeping the stores open at a very quiet time.
They even get a bit of quodos if it never happens as they will have gone up in their employees estimation.
