Checking in with a new total paid figure :) Technically £188 was written off the debt amount by taking a 50% F&F but I am still including it in the amount paid off as it has still come of the debt total :)

    #026 £621.27/£2.604,53

I have also sorted out minimum monthly payments for a few other debts that I had been putting of paying. My husband should hopefully be in work by the end of March and I have a start date for my job for the end of April... Things are most definitely looking up :)
redmel good work on the F&F, I always used to include any amount I saved from F&F too. Good luck to you on starting you job and to hubby on being in work by end of March. x

    Hi all,

    #134 checking in with £550.28/£3147.65

This includes completely paying off one credit card so I'm thrilled!! This leaves just under £200 left in an old student overdraft and the rest is the other credit card. I feel like I can finally see light at the end of the tunnel :)

GalRob amazing feeling when you clear a credit card, the light will shine brighter every day. x

    Hi Muppets and everyone,

Another £500 for me please, bringing my totals to:

    #79 £6,300/£8,470 74.38%

Getting more excited about getting rid of this once and for all, now I'm on the down slope of the hill (i.e. over 50% paid off) rather than trying to drag myself up this mountain of debt for how many years.

I have pretty much stopped buying things beyond the essentials, so clothes and shoes, for instance, only if they need replacing, kitchenware the same. If I want music, I listen to it on youtube. As for books, one of my comfort shopping targets in years gone by, thanks to the business we live in a library, so no shortage on that score.

I have decided instead to go for experiences. No more Maccie Dees. If we want to eat out we spend more and try out restaurants I've been too mean to go to for years. Same with spas, holidays, all on the okay to spend list.

Pity we don't live in Plymouth or Portsmouth, lol. I'd love to be able to jump on a ferry to Santander in Spain for a few days. Calais and Dunkirk don't quite do it for me, sorry, Dover.
dktreesea I am so happy to see you on the down slope of the hill. I cant' wait till you are deft free. I live about an hour and a half away from Calais, there are some lovely places withing driving distance. xx

    Hi everyone,

Been reading some positive posts! Well done :T

I was wondering if you could help or point me in the right direction please. I've seen some of you lovelies mention YNAB. I've signed up for a months trial. It works on a calendar month basis, but I get paid on the 20th of each month, so my question is.. will it eventually even itself out and fall in line after a couple of months? Or will it just not work for me? At the moment it doesn't seem to work :(*-

Afternoon MrsMck, I still use the old version of YNAB, did a trial of the new version but stayed with the old while I still can. Both my hubby and I work for 2 companies, we both get an advance from each company about the middle of the month and the rest of our wages the start of the following month. So we have 4 paydays. It did take a few months to get it working for us, I made a buffer catagory and any spare money I had I added it to that. Once I had enough to cover 1 full months money, I was able to put this months advance wages to next months catagories. eg Feb advance wages is set to be used for March, March 6th ish wages then gets used for March. March 15th ish is set for Aprils bills and so on.
It will work out for you, it just needs a bit of time. xx

    Good morning

Have been catching up on the posts and wanted to say "congrats" to everyone on the repayments. Also a big "thank you" to Muppetts - the front page list is really great.

I've made a repayment earlier than normal this payday £600 to clear a 0% card ahead of end of term. What a relief. Can now focus on the rest. So total repayments now stand at:
    #23. £2,238.70 / £8,100

Wishing you all a great week. Miss DM
