Back to work for a few weeks and pension

My mother in law is planning to help out covering for my wife at work and the wage would be approx £50 to £80 a week for a few weeks.
She is 67 years and she has two pensions one is the state pension and the other is from her deceased husbands NHS pension.
Would these earnings effect her pension - they are only very small and as I say its only temporary.

  • There should be no reason why it affects either pension but she needs to make sure she pays the correct amount of tax on this job or she could end up owing HMRC.

If her pension income is already using up her Personal Allowance she will need to pay 19/20/21% tax on the job.

The exact amount depends on where she is resident for tax purposes and how much her existing pension income is.

If things go wrong she will need up on the emergency tax code and that will mean she will probably owe money to HMRC.
