You're decluttering is amazing. I am not sure I have that many books in my house, and I teach English and thought I had a lot!!

Thank you Nicnak :). I was a bit obsessive about collecting secondhand books after my sister died, I think it was my way of coping.

But the books had been becoming a problem recently as I had so many that it was making me feel bad, so I'm ready to let most of them go. I still have plenty in four bookcases, I've just got rid of the ones in plastic boxes that were on our bedroom floor and around the house.

  • Another day, another chance to de-clutter :). It's warm and sunny already.

Today I want to get some more boxes out of the biggest void and go through them. We may need to nip out to the R@nge and buy some more transparent plastic boxes with lids. The clutter in the void is in open top plastic crates, bin bags, or cardboard boxes at the moment, so our possessions aren't being protected from damp, dust, or rodents.

I'm actually keen to get going again so I'm thorough addicted :D.

DH and I forgot that all the shops shut on Easter Sunday  so our quest to buy storage boxes was fruitless. We tried three different shops before we realised  :(.

I don't want to waste the whole afternoon, so I'll have to sort everything into separate bin bags and label them, and then buy some boxes tomorrow morning. I was ridiculously disappointed at not being able to buy storage boxes today :o. Silly I know but I really wanted to make some good progress on the de-cluttering today.

    Thanks Nicnak :).

It's good for the people who work in shops who are getting a day to relax. We're not doing much relaxing as DH is working and I'm going through boxes from the void :rotfl:.

I don't have any new transparent storage boxes to put them in :( but I'm sorting through all the stuff, throwing away some and putting some in the charity bag. The items we want to keep I'm having to put into labelled bin bags until we can buy the boxes for them to go into.

I feel like I'm keeping too much stuff, but at least some is being got rid of. I have a ton of children's toys which I'm tempted to put in the charity bag. Not quality stuff like lego or duplo, but cheap plastic toys, playing cards and all sorts of odds and ends. Surely the DC won't want to keep all that tat? Maybe if I just whittle it down to one large box as it's in two boxes at the moment. I'm not doing the DC any favours if I keep all of that, surely?

I think your plan is very reasonable, although here's one who is 'not allowed' to dispose of vast numbers of cuddly toys !!
DD1 has mostly moved out, but DD2's room looks like she's still there - AND she has a 4-bedroomed house of her own. Really OH and I have enough junk of our own without being a free storage facility for other people's !!
  • It's so difficult when you have children who want to keep everything. All the clutter makes me feel stressed, but I don't want to upset the DC.

On the other hand, if they haven't seen the toys for years, then they've probably forgotten they ever had them  :shhh:.
