Solar Feed in Tariff contract?
Options
I'm planning on putting Solar on my roof.
It turns out my energy supplier (Avro) is not a "FIT licensee" meaning they don't take part in the Feed in Tariff scheme and I cannot register for the FIT with them. Very few of the cheapest suppliers seem to be FIT Licensees.
It's pretty clear that if your supplier is a FIT licensee you can register for the tariff and then later switch your "normal" energy contracts to another supplier but leave the FIT contract with the original company.
Does anyone know if I can set up a FIT contract directly with an energy provider without being a customer with them. I don't want to leave avro if I don't have to - they are by far the cheapest for my usage.
Else I would have to switch to an expensive provider, register and then switch back!

You can register for FITs with any supplier who operates it: all the major suppliers (with a customer base above 250,000) are required to do so (the Big 6 and the larger 2nd tier suppliers such as Ovo and FU). There are also a number of voluntary licensees.
