It has been difficult to find the time to post recently but I'm back and determined.

In response to Enthusiastic Saver, I am absolutely horrified to discover the interest rate on my Barclaycard is 25%. I've looked at it before but I don't think it registered that it was that high. What can I do about that?

Both of my overdrafts cost £9 a month. So £18 a month.

Yes, it is a consolidation loan. That's very much been my pattern of behaviour I'm afraid.

I have an overdraft on my current account and an overdraft on our bills account (in my name).

I've picked up some bits from around the home to sell and I am making progress with setting up my training sideline.

My plan is to reduce my debt by £1500 by the summer.

    Best wishes everyone.

End of April - end of May

    Rent and bills £550
    Loan £227
    Car £166
    Professional fees £20
    Car insurance £25
    Phone £17
    Child care costs £80
    New tyre £50
    Petrol £40
    O/D fee £9
    Hoover £30
    Hair £20

    HSBC CC £100
Barclaycard CC £150 + £50 from eBay sales

I'm going to ask my husband to take over my grocery shopping for the next 3 months. I will menu plan carefully. I will steer well-clear of supermarkets. No party invites so far and no family birthdays. Will use the £5 pocket money my parents give my daughter each week for presents if there are any party invites.

    Actions:
    1. Book car service for the following month with a view to changing car/reducing car payment.
    2. Find out about work taking over professional fee.
    3. Sell things from around the home.
    4. Get dates booked in for delivering training and boosting income.

Dear Debt Free Diary friends, is this completely unrealistic?! Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

I am feeling like it is all rather hopeless
Pay day next week. It will be a lift to see some of the debt going down.

Felt quite despondent today and for a moment, I thought I would just apply for yet another consolidation loan. That made me feel very uncomfortable though. I thought about the inpsiring stories I have read here.

I had a thought that since last year...
    1) I have paid £2,730.24 off my loan.
    2) I haven't used a credit card for 5 months. My credit cards have been cut up.
    3) I have cleared my Next account which was £250.
    4) I have cleared another store debt of £250.
    5) This time last year I was just paying the minimum payments for my credit card debt.
    6) I now live within my means each month.
    7) I do a budget plan every month.
    8) I check my bank balances daily.
    9) My attitude towards spending has changed a lot.
    10) My life is calmer.

    That year has flown by.
By this time next year, I will have paid another £2,730.24 off my loan.
So this time next year, I will owe £3,640.32 on my loan.
This time next year, I will have 16 payments left to make.

Although I think about money and my debt A LOT, it is less likely to keep me awake at night as it was this time last year when the problem seemed utterly beyond hope.

    So there is some hope....

I am very focussed on bringing the Barclaycard debt down to under £2000.
That will be an important milestone.

I am feeling more hopeful as pay day is imminent!

    My 4 month plan:
    - By August, my Barclaycard will be under £1999.
    - My HSBC will be under £2400.
    - My loan will be £5400.
    - My car will be serviced and I will be taking out a new cheaper finance plan.

    Yesterday was a non-spend day.
Made dinner using up store cupboard bits and pieces.

It was a !!!8216;no!!!8217; from the training company so I need to do it alone. Herein lies my problem ... I know I need to get this organised but it!!!8217;s been a month or two since I had the idea. Why have I not just got on and done it?

I have got a pile of things in my bedroom which I could try and sell. Again, I didn!!!8217;t find the time to do it this weekend.

I!!!8217;m making myself feel dreary now!

    Onwards and upwards!
