Dads estate

The solicitor handling my Dad's estate have had the proceeds of the house sale in their account for a month now, and seem less that quick to respond to requests for time scales for distribution.
There are no calls upon the estate which could possibly delay proceedings.

Is a month quite normal???

    Hi Quiggy

It really depends how the Solicitors are dealing with the estate, ie if a Grant of Probate has been obtained etc. Basically if they are awaiting a Grant of Probate, this has to be obtained prior to any monies being released to beneficiaries. However if monies are being sent to the Solicitor as you say for the sale of the property and they are awaiting further documents to complete the probate file, normally they would lodge the money to an interest account whereby all beneficiaries would benefit for interest acrued.
