natwest advntage gold fees

my wife has a nat west advantage gold account which she has held for about ten years. She initially had the standard current account with nat west but on a visit tothe branch the asssitant recommended she upgraded to the nat west advantage gold account as she was paying in her salary every month.

About five years ago she stopped her salary going to the account and since that time she has had just the family allowance going into the account, she forgot about the advantage account and they have been charging her £12.95 per month to administer a a £160 per month account.

Has anyone had similar problems and is there any mileage in trying to reclaim the subscription as they importuned her to take up the subscription account and should have been equally as diligent when the account was not to her benefit

    The advantage gold account comes with various benefits including mobile phone insurance, worldwide travel insurance, RAC roadside assistance and much more www.natwest.com/adgold how is the bank to know she is not benefitting anymore? in all honesty she could just be putting £20 per month in it and the bank wouldn't know if she was/wasn't using the benefits anymore and using another bank as the main account.

    So i you won't have any comeback on the fees as they show on the statement so why is she only questioning them now?
