My classic car renewal is cheap. I used to have it on a Austin Maxi last year, and it was £98.10 Comp. Imagine my surprise when I got this year's renewal and it was the same: £98.10 Comp. I phoned them up as I said I was changing my vehicle. Still the same price. Then I said I'd like to add my other classic car to the policy. Still the same price!

Two classic cars for £98.10 Comp / 1973 Daf 66 1.1L / 1969 Reliant Regal 0.7L / £50 excess / unlimited mileage / used as main car (most policies are for classics as second vehicles) / European breakdown recovery / TP Driving Other Cars cover /Agreed Value / 32 year-old / male / Staines

Anyway it's sometimes worth checking out specialist insurers for vehicles when they are as little as 15-20 years old.
  • Cheapest I could find for my wife's Corsa was £157.50 from Prudential - after £100 cashback from Bighair = £57.50 (+ used Cashback credit card of course!)

I know this is slightly off topic but I was told a few weeks ago that if you work in the newspaper business, when you are asked your occupation by your car insurer, it is much better to state that you are a normal printer rather than a newspaper printer because newspaper printers are on the "magic" list meaning they don't give you as good a deal. Does anybody know if this is true?

My car insurance isn't under £100...I long for that day lol. I'm 23 this year and I've driven a 1.0l V reg Nissan Micra profile since I was 20. I've got full no claims bonus of 2 years. I took out a 10 month bonus accelerator policy with Elephant.co.uk in November last year and that got me down from my last insurers (The AA) best quote of £590ish to £526 fully comp! A difference of £64. Its good enough for me I think!

My first years quote for the same car was £1352, 2nd year it went down to £714 and now I've got it down to £526 all fully comp! Only had 1 claim but that wasn't my fault. Any opinions on if thats good or not?

By the way, I used both confused.com and moneysupermarket.co.uk and then once I got my cheapest quotes, I haggled with just about every insurer that rang me back...there was a few!!

Just did a quick check on the swiftcover website, their quote was higher (£223) than the one I got from Lloyds. I forgot to mention that the Lloyds quote was full comprehensive, including legal cover and a replacement car, with Swiftcover you have to pay more for those.

I'm having trouble with the pru quidco offer which I took out in November. Finding quidco customer service a bit poor. Anyone else having trouble?

Oh and remember the Barclay's £50 price match deal is for 'like for like' cover which you're need to prove with renewal letter and other documentation. So have your existing cover docs in front of you when getting a quote, then you can match the annual mileage or mods. Also proving this a little hard to do if you were a swift customer (Haven't heard back from Barclay's yet but I've took screen shots of my swift space!) as swift is totally Internet.

Another point with moneysupermarket is they make assumptions so your final price with the insurer could vary considerable.

    HTH well something of it!
