O/S Daily Monday 21 October 2019

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

dumpling - stay strong, thinking of you all x

Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here, DS2 settled and ok.

It's still dark here, but seems just damp underfoot - we may have had some rain during the night but its not raining at the moment. Forecast does look marginally better than the last couple of weeks.

Lunch yesterday was roast lamb, roasties, mash, cauli/broc cheese, carrots, swede, peas, yorkshires and gravy. There's some LO's so will use those to make up another meal. Tonight we'll be having fish, chips/jacket potato, beans, I'll be having baked fish and veg.

Back to work today - there's been a mail out so we'll get people needing help with that, could make for a busy Monday - I hope so, it makes the day pass quickly.

We had a chilled day yesterday, watched loads of rugby which we all very much enjoyed.

Keep safe and well x

    Morning All

Brr, it's cold out there. I'll put the washing out before I go to work but it'll probably freeze first! Lovely sunshine yesterday, bedding all dried and put back on, it smelled lovely.

Come on dumpling, fight on. We're all right behind you. Love and hugs to you and your family.

Successful shopping trip with DD yesterday, apart from that I didn't do very much. Had a rubbish nights sleep so will need to wake up soon for a busy day at work, always manic after a holiday.

    Take care, XX

Morning folks brr it feels chilly this morning. I couldn't get to sleep last night after reading dear DUMPLING's post. I was so worried about her and her family. I hope today might bring better news from her. xx

I have the hospital myself later this morning for the result of the MRI scan. Good or bad I need to know what, if anything, can be done as my legs are increasingly painful when I walk even short distances now.

This afternoon the plumber is due back with the part he ordered and I may at last have a functioning loo and shower. Meanwhile the bath is still working so a quick dip is on the agenda shortly. I prefer showers as I struggle to get up and out of the bath these days! It wouldn't be a pretty sight if someone had to come in and rescue me!

Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) where needed. Thinking especially of DUMPLING. Take care all xx

Morning nmlc, couldn't sleep on so got up, busy day ahead.

We're going down to pick up Ziggy from Laura's so that she won't be distressed if Laura is in pain (home birth) when the time arrives. I made soup to take down for lunch and a batch of brownies and one of millionaires shortbread fr them as well.

I want to clean the bathrooms before we leave and Laura wants help with her kitchen sorting this afternoon.

    Morning all

Seems so much colder here today Im going to have to cave in and put the heating on timed soon I hate getting out of a warm bed into a cold room.

Off to work today and it will be a busy Monday as there is always a lot of prep to do on a Monday morning.

We had the turkey roast yesterday and we did stuffing with it, it was just like sitting down to a Christmas dinner, I said to the OH we should get the leftover crackers from last year down and pull them !!! , it will be the same tonight as there was loads of meat left and I always try and do extra spuds and veg it makes for an easy dinner tonight.

I peeled all the onions yesterday and I have salted them overnight ready to pickle this evening, Taff I love pickling thing, I put a good dollop of balsamic in the malt vinegar to give it a rich flavour.

Dumpling I have been thinking of you, you must keep fighting, sending love to you all xx

    Have good days all xx

    Morning :hello:

dumpling I've only just seen your post from yesterday. Keep fighting, we're all thinking of you xx

I've caught up with everything – work, household spreadsheets, housework, washing. The garden is a soggy mess, I'm going to leave it for now and hope the rain stops soon. The only thing I have to concentrate on at the moment is cleaning Scamp's muddy footprints off the kitchen floor several time a day :D

Hopefully I'll finish my blanket today, I only have a couple of rows and the border to do. And some reading would be nice, I'm close to the end of my book and I can't wait to see how they catch the baddie :D

    Morning everyone.

Definitely chillier here too. I woke in the night as my arms cold because they were out of the duvet, I was practising sleeping on my back!

I'm off shortly for my early dental appointment then I've an order to collect from Marks and one to take back.

TA - I really hope your plumbing is repaired this morning and that your MRI results are good.

Snoozer - soup, mmmm, you've given me a taste for it now.

My thoughts are with the poorlies and those struggling. Dumpling - get those dukes up. Silver-oldie - I hope things are OK with you too.

    Happy Monday to all.

Best wishes to Dumpling and her family xx
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

    Happy Monday!

My weekend back home was, as always, very enjoyable. It started on Friday with dinner with my ex-colleagues. We were last to leave the restaurant at about 11.30pm! Was really good catching up with them and they're talking about coming down to Manchester to visit soon, too.
Spends: £5 on lunch, £3.20 on snacks, £30 on dinner.

Saturday was the day of my best friends mums leaving party. She's been like an aunt to me, so I wanted to say goodbye. I also visited my dad and squeezed in dinner with my mum, too.
Spends: £13 on drinks and snacks, £10 on a bottle of wine and a card, £10 on a taxi home

Yesterday I had a lovely bit of lunch with my gran, as always. We sat chatting away for close 4 hours before she essentially kicked me out, concerned at me driving home in the dark. Picked up some food from the takeaway and was in bed for shortly after 9.
Spends: £54 on petrol, £6 on a takeaway

No gym this morning, as I wanted to catch up on sleep but I'll visit yoga tonight providing I'm not still knackered. That being said, I still need to do a meal plan for the week, make my lunches and visit the SM, so that may take up my Monday evening.

I have still to read back over the weekends posts but it seems that Dumpling could be doing with some virtual hugs. Hope all is well.
