  • This message is to EVERYONE on this thread,,,
I started reading the thread as I was desperately worried and searching for some hope (!). I am a widowed mother of 3 (1 grown up & 2 littlies) and as I'm sure you all are, am struggling - I read your posts for a week or 2 and you have ALL inspired me to think I CAN DO THIS..now even when I can only pay £1 off something, it doesn't feel insignificant, it feels like an achievement !! THANK YOU each and everyone of you xx

Brilliant comment IWILLgetthere, there are so many people who are struggling, trying to reduce/clear their debts no matter how large or small. This post pretty much sums up the thread in terms of support and mutual appreciation.

I am hoping I am doing this right but I PADed £135.00 yesterday.

    £100 to cc
    £35 to catalogue
    Barclaycard: £4,217.55/£5 = 0.11% | Tesco £3,810.55/£3,770.55 = 1.05%
    Total: £8,027.80/£5 = 100%/0.06%
    Mortgage £99,692/£51,652.33 51.8%
    Car Loan: £9,217.20/7,527.38 81.67%

    Hi everyone

    Can I join please?

I have 2 credit cards that I would like to pay off:

    Lloyds £3,227
    Sainsbury's £1,392

Both are 0% until 2020 so everything I send to them comes off the debt.

The direct debits are £40 a month to each one.

For Sainsbury's the £40 a month will mean its clear before the 0% runs out, so I wont be OP'ing that one for now.

Instead I am going to send extra to Lloyds, as just paying £40 a month will mean I still owe about £2,000 when the deal ends.

What I currently do is every night make sure my current account is rounded down to the nearest £

So tonight if I've got £868.83 I'll transfer 83p to the Lloyds card.

If I can pay off nearly a pound a day that'll be nearly £30 a month extra I'll be paying off.

To have it clear by 2020 I need to pay off £100 a month from it.

    Wish me luck!

thanks for your comments Iwillgetthere - as LMD says very much sums up the ethos of this thread. Unlike the politicians we really are all in this together and as each person reaches a milestone, gets a debt paid off etc it encourages us all to keep going and that it can be done.

Yesterday together we paid off £272
