    Regarding the plumb base price you put on your original post, did you just ring up your local depot and ask what the best they could do was?

    I'm the NW England for info.

    I rang my local Plumb Center (Plumbase is a different company and they don't stock pellets yet) and asked what was the best price that they could do, the list price for a pallet of 88 x 10kg bags is £236.50, you should be able to get a discount off this (maybe not quite the price that I have got which I understand from other branches is pretty low), but it is up to the branch manager as to the level. It is worth quoting prices from the internet to help them decide.

    Worth noting that PTS (Plumbing Trade Supplies) also stock pellets, I haven't managed to get a price yet, but your local branch might be a bit more responsive.

    As you are going to be buying regularly and probably spending over a thousand pounds a year, your business is valuable to these companies, so haggle!

    Ok, so I placed my first order and it was with....... Landenergy.

    I had issues with all the other companies I spoke with and the sale person at Landenergy actually returned my call which was a big plus. Their lead time was good so I look forward to seeing the delivery in a couple of days. I paid £252 for the pallet but it was first order and I needed the material so wasn't in a good position to haggle for the few £.

    Called my local plumb centre's and it didn't go well. One said they only sell by the bag, no pricing for pallets. The other said the brites only come in pallets of 72 and it was around £350 for that quantity....><

    I couldn't get the Brites website to recognise my postcode, couldn't see a phone number so filled out their contact form but no response.

    Originally, I planned to order from Forever Fuels when I looked a few weeks ago but their prices jumped up as you reported.

    I think with Plumb Center that you need to identify a branch which sells a lot of pellets to get a reasonable price, and also so that they can find the special product code for the pallet of Brites.

    As I discovered with my latest delivery, the pallet size they supply has changed to 72, apparently this was because they were getting too much (crushing?) damage to the bottom layers of bags.

    Thanks for starting this thread. It seems that it is very hit and miss with pellet prices. I had 2 tons of pellets delivered last week direct from brites at £252 per ton. The plumbcentre price looks very attractive. Have been thinking of getting a hopper for next year but will wait and see for the moment I will use about 8 tons a year so doubt it will be cost effective but might save my back!

    I recently had an RHI audit where I was told that Ofgen require you to keep all invoices for pellets for the duration of the RHI payments as well as being from an authorised supplier.

    BTW, Balcas brites deliver on pallets 8 bags to a layer, making the stack just over 12 bags high. The bottom ones dont appear to be crushed.

    This is a highly ranked thread yet it's dangerous to assume (with all due respect because a lot of effort has gone into the OP's research) that all the above fuels average 4.8kWh/kg. In fact according to ENPLUS A1 standards, the middle ground is 4.95 kWh/kg. It's best to individualise the calculations based upon actual brand specific calorific values. This isn't gas, where its calorific value is measured by the national grid and is the same between all suppliers, selling an homogenous product. Biomass suppliers sell products consisting of a wide variety of species, in different proportions and moisture values. And don't forget product quality!
    As mentioned, all respect to the OP! It must have taken him a lot of time to write this list and im sure it's his wish to see it evolve positively.

    Found this thread while doing some research for a Wood pellet price comparison website I’m currently working on. Thought an up to date list of the best prices for bagged wood pellets that I’ve been able to find online might be of interest.

    Thanks for the comment, the price per kWh that I calculated was just to give an indication of the price compared to other forms of heating, my source was The Biomass Energy Centre website, as a comparison, the Notts Energy website uses 4.72 kWh/kg.

    The minimum specified for ENplus A1 pellets in EN 14961-2 is 4.6kWh/kg, but as suppliers do not generally publish the test house results it is actually quite difficult to ascertain actual energy content, if, as you suggest, you have access to this data it would be helpful to share it with the forum.
