Hi
Have a basic Acer E-15 start (ES1 -512-C5YW) (N2840, 4gb ram, 8.1), cheap as chips as got it in a deal from Tesco, a couple of years ago.
Today I updated with the free update from 8.1 to W10, no problems.

PC is clean and has a fresh install so running a lot better but looking for a bit more performance.

Understand first call is SSD to replace HD so, thinking of fitting this 120gb SSD for £25, https://www.mymemory.co.uk/integral-120gb-p-series-5-sata-iii-2-5-ssd-drive-560mb-s.html . Would this fit?

Do i need anything else, cables , holder etc?
Understand that i can download W10 to usb and boot from it, to install to SSD.

Memory, appears to have only 1 memory bank which max is 8gb, about £60. Think SSD would be better investment?
PC used for internet, basic office type work, youtube etc

Thanks

You would be better off with 250GB, more space:

What RAM is in there now? If 4GB, that's plenty for your needs as posted.
I think this job really needs
    a much bigger hammer.

Can't say if that one will fit, but most are SATA nowadays, so very likely to. I've recently fitted an SSD and laptop runs much faster, boot & shut down are really quick. SSD would be my first choice, before ram upgrade

Just stick with your original choice.

You don't need 250 GB for "internet, basic office type work, youtube etc". 120 GB is more than ample.
Forget about RAM. SSD is all you need for that particular machine.

Thanks, have ordered my original choice.
Seems easy enough to fit (I hope).

The upgrade from 8.1 to 10 was still free by the way!

For General use 120/128GB should be fine.

Since WD takes over Sandisk, Ex Sandisk directors (including a founder /CEO) has moved to Micron (Crucial). I also personally changed my preference from SanDisk (WD) to Crucial now.

Well, get any SSD, You will be happier. Happy SSD computing !

The family are running some old Dell's with 80GB disks and there is plenty of space on them for "normal" use. It is only those that want to keep loads of data such as music, photos and films on board that need big drives.
