Hi wondercollie, it's a tin plate from the Victoria and Albert Museum gift shop a few months ago. I think it is meant to be hung on the wall rather than used but I also think it is very pretty so I use it a lot. :)

Lol! Older you do make me laugh you know.

Well I went to mr w to treat myself, as its pay day, got a pouissin or however you spell it 3.25 I know I could have bought a whole chicken for that price, but I really fancied it, spent £12 quite frivolously lol, did get some blurberries, cherrys and papaya all reduced though.

my freezer is really empty, so after the weekend because im busy meeting friends for dinner and drinks tonight and tomorrow, I will be on a mission to fill it back up, the mse way obviously! will probably need that easy to cook pouissin on sunday anyway! lol

Hope your all well. Kirri I just got the waitrose mag, some nice reciepes in there.

    Evening all :)

Hope you enjoy that poussin (or however you spell it!) MsNR and enjoy your weekend of socialising. If you find any good ys bargains when you hit the shops again, feel free to tell me where you found them :D

Kirri, I'm about to go on a chocolate binge! Those lovely people at Oc*do have told me it is my anniversary of shopping with them so they've given me a £10 voucher to spend on chocolate or wine, so I went on line immediately and ordered a stash of Montezuma chocolate. Really looking forward to trying the Apple Crumble flavour.

Anyone heard from MrsF recently? Hope she is OK.

Dinner tonight is an old (and cheap) favourite of sausages and roasted vegetables. Slightly odd vegetable mix of onions, olives, garlic, peppers, aubergine, courgettes, tomatoes and miniature potatoes but it is SOOOO tasty. Yum.

Older I got a few bits in mr w today, few bargains, I swear when you first started here you said you couldn't cook? or am I making that up? if so you have deffo come along way, being suggestible isn't so bad, at least you are open to new things.

I was meant to be out for a drink tonight, but I didn't feel like it because of the weather, so had a Chinese take away, will have some jelly and a yumdough later 30p each reduced in mr w.

I went to a Lebanese rodizio yesterday, its in Fulham for those in London, for the very first time I tried Bulgur wheat, now I want to make some as it was really nice, my friend is Lebanese, so im going to askher for a receipe!

Hope your all well, ive been out working a bit today, didn't get much sleep, hence the reason I wasn't as enthusiastic to go cocktailing!

Yes where is mrs f? another church thingy? swamped by baking? who knows, she will be back soon I hope.

^ That Lebanese place sounds good! I use bulgar in tabbouleh mainly. How did they cook it in the place you went?

Older - did laugh at your price label problem! I would tell someone even if I didn't know them probably! I had my free £10 of wine/choc from Ocado the other month, love the fact they do that! I've had a choc free week as I've not been in any shops.. Loving your photos btw.

I got the new Waitrose mag last week but not read it yet - still not bothering to cook meals here, still snacking.. Got more broad beans to use later though so will do them on sourdough again. Made more houmous yesterday, 3 pots. Just bought lots of salad and fruit this week. Might try and make a bean salad like the one I normally buy..

Only thing I've used from the freezer is pitta..
  • Hi all, well that's the tennis done for another year, so I can go back to real life now (GRIPPING final though!)

MsNR, I still can't cook, as in put ingredients together to make a different thing the way that you all can (other than the apple pudding thing I made a few months back and am inordinately proud of). My slow cooker casseroles have been disasters and I have no idea how to make the bread, hummus & breadsticks, pies & quiches, meat & tomato sauce dishes etc that you all manage to knock out. You've probably noticed by now that my meal preparation is simply chopping up colourful things and leaving them raw if at all possible, or roasting/boiling them if they really do need to be cooked :rotfl: Ah well, at least I'm still trying.

Lunch today was a cheese and onion roll (was late getting back for the tennis) and supper will be sausages and roasted veg again, albeit different roasted veg this time. I've got some cauliflower to use up and I've only ever roasted it in wedges with a bit of oil and hot smoked paprika but I'm told it is quite nice made into a mash. Sounds fairly grim to me but I guess I should try it before writing it off so I might do that tonight, or save it for tomorrow.

I really like bulgar wheat too - first had it in a turkish restaurant with a seafood casserole a few years ago and often order it now. I've never tried to cook it myself though so would be interested in your friend's recipe when you get it. Sounds like I should be picking up the Waitflower magazine to check out the recipes too, so I'll try to remember next time I'm in store.

some of these look great, i realised a few months ago how much extra i was spending when i had cupboards full of food so now i have re arranged the cupboards and freezer so its easier to find stuff and do a weekly food plan - but i always look at what i have/what needs using first and i have halved my food bill

Rampant Recycler I've been Money Tipped!
We decided to clear out our main cupboard yesterday. (we call it a carb-board because it's full of bread, pasta and cereal)

I threw away so much stuff that was out of date or past its best and it looks great. We went food shopping yesterday so now we're going to run this down before running to the shop.

My 4 drawer freezer has 2 drawers dedicated to meat and I have enough pasta, rice and couscous to last me at least 6 months. I shouldn't have any issues doing this!

    Hello!
I've been lurking on this thread for ages and reading recipes and ideas to use up what stuff I have hiding in the cupboards. We have less money coming in now than we previously did so we had a HUGE sort out last week and got every food item out of the cupboards/freezer and covered the kitchen sides and wrote out a list of what we had an what quantities. I managed to plan 16 days worth of meals for 2 adults and 1 child out all of that! There is loads of foods left over too!.

Found 2 packets of angel delight in the cupboard so I'm going to make a cheesecake dessert with one of them. We're going away for a week to OH's parents so that will be handy for cheap meals. Oh's sister works in Asda aswell so I might ask her to take me one day whilst there (around the time they get the yellow stickers out) and take advantage of her discount too. I can use their freezer and then bring it home in a cooler bag.

Loving all the pics people are posting but It's made me hungry for dinner now! xx
