This is probably not breaking news to most - but some cruise lines offer free OBC (on board credits) for military veterans.

This is spending money added to your cabin account which can be used to offset purchases made whilst onboard - drinks, duty free and goods from the shops and ship organised excursions ashore etc.

To qualify you have to have served in any branch of the Armed Forces for a minimum length of time, this includes reservists and cadet forces personnel.

You’d have to check out specifics for appropriate cruise lines - Princess is the only one I have heard about, but it can be as much as 250 US dollars, a nice little earner.

I think P&O and Cunard also, but not as generous as Princess.

Celebrity Cruises offer a discount to veterans and serving armed forces. My husband is Ex-RAF, we booked with them in April and received a 10% discount. You do have to prove you served, my husband sent a copy of his discharge papers.

Get a Defence Discount Card and you are entitled to discounts on various cruise lines. Used it earlier in the year.
