DLG Legal Services

Hi All
Anyone had dealings with the above company,they are the in house Lawyers for Direct Line.
Please advise me your views on their handling of your claim,we are having terrible issues currently and cannot accept the way we are being treated by such a large organisation.

    How did it play out for you? We are just submitting papers for their consideration, but I wonder whether it would be better to find a no win, no fee type organisation locally? Thanks

    Absolutely terrible,in the end we got them to complete our claim.
    I would never use them again or advise any one else to,they are disgraceful,I ended up doing the majority of the work because they were pursuing the wrong driver,getting the names wrong which made the driver who hit our car from behind think he could get away with murder.
    I had to threaten them with action to get things moving,I hope no one takes this as a racist comment but every time I rang to discuss I could not understand the claims representative,pi think we had three/four because I was not happy with the way the claim was being handled

    Oh dear, this doesn't sound reassuring. I haven't been able to find out much about them on-line and whilst some of the people I've dealt with have been foreign, I haven't had any problems in that respect. However, they are already getting names mixed up on the paperwork! Sigh, I can see what's coming. I don't think there's any other way we can afford to pursue a claim, since this is coming off our home insurance legal cover for something related to the house.

  • I have had aclaim since June last 2014 they have been appalling ,have names mixed up all the time and I have had God knows how many case workers, basically in my opinion they are hopeless and will NEVER use direct line again.

    It all sounds familiar to the issues we had during our claim,we are still having issues with the respondents lawyers because there was such a !!!! up with wrong names,registrations etc etc.
    We got paid out after I took control of the case and threatened them legal action given their negligence during the handling of the case.
    The majority of the time I could not understand the case handlers given their lack of the English language and the number of staff we had on the case I lost track of who had done what.
    Never Never again would I deal with this company
  • I believe DLG and Cogent Law and the rehabilitation company - Argent Rehabilitation are all part of Direct Line insurance. I have been dealing with them for well over 2 years and they have been absolutely awful. My claim has had constant delays because of their inefficiency. I have had to wait upto 5 months for a medical reports that should have taken 2-3 weeks, these types of delays have been normal on my case.

    Specialists have made recommendations for treatments and again I have waited in excess of 9 months and on one occasion nearly 2 years!. Yes, I called and e mailed but got nowhere. I e mail, they don't reply, when I speak to the case handler, she is very pleasant but to be honest seems embarrassed to have to talk to me because of the delays. The case handlers do not seem to be legally trained ie not solicitors nor are their supervisors. Important information seems to slip through the net. I am still some distance from having my claim settled. The solicitor of the person who caused my accident is better than mine. I have sent a formal complaint today and will, if unresolved, go to the legal ombudsman

    When I went to renew my insurance with them it trippled!!!!!

    They re in my opinion truly horrendous, not honourable and if you dont want additional stress or worry, dont use them....
  • Still no joy with case, but have another case worker as I was told they were giving me a more experienced person to deal with my case , actually second new case worker since I was last on here not sure how many I have had now,don't even get replies to my emails now, when I phoned up last time I was told by my case worker that they havnt had time to look at my case yet and they would phone me the following week when they had looked at it, well that didn't happen, how can they get away with this kind of service, and what can I do when they just don't seem to be helping me at all,I feel really helpless with the whole thing and they are getting paid 275 an hour apparently.

    Have you Diemare had any luck with your claim ,mine is getting worse and I don't know what to do anymore as no one will answer my emails and when I ask to speak to someone they say that that person is busy, I feel like this is going to go on forever it's getting ridiculas now.
  • I am currently using DLG as they were provided by my insurers, Direct Line. No way would I ever, EVER, use this company again. Not only do I have to do all the work for them, I am always ringing them for clarification, they send me lengthy letters which don't even make sense and they contradict themselves throughout all documents I receive from them. They have asked me to sign a "Statement of Truth" 4 TIMES NOW!!
    At first they told me I would have to PAY THEM for their services, when my insurance covers all legal costs! They then went on to tell me about an office they are opening in South America - which I could not care less about, and I feel it is a waste of time telling me as I am only interested in my claim. They then got a third party organisation involved in my claim - without telling me, called CL MediCall Aid. I received a dodgy email from them saying I had to go for a Medical Assessment in a horrible Holiday Inn Hotel in the town centre or face a £50 fine. I went to the assessment to be spoken to like dirt by all staff, I was patronised and the "doctor" didn't even ask me about the pain in my back, he simply read off information he had already received about my accident (such as date, time, location) then dismissed me.

    But the best bit so far is them sending me a letter which was addressed to me, but then changed addresses halfway through, and was really for someone else, so I now have this claimants address, personal details, the other person involved in the accidents details AND their claim total. I have rang straight away to address this matter, and I was told I would have to keep this information for them in a safe place, I will have to wait for my file-handler to become available and he would ring me back. It is now 5 hours later and I still have no call. Not only have they broken the Data Protection Act but they are incompetent at resolving their errors.

    I have lost all hope of ever getting my claim resolved, and I would advise that if you are with Direct Line and you get advised to use DLG Legal Services, don't. Find your own solicitors and Direct Line will cover the costs for you.

    I am leaving Direct Line in the next couple of weeks, for all my insurance products- solely because of how poor DLG legal services are. I look forward to telling them the reason I am leaving!
