If you've got a wallpaper seam roller they're good for getting the last bit out of nearly empty toothpaste tubes.8

I hate the word "hack" used in this context, why can't we call it a "tip"?13

I shred anything which could give ideas about us; put the papers in an old tissue box(top cut off) until I have plenty making it worthwhile getting the shredder out. Then into the compost heap.
Some companies give out advertising mugs; I have three - pencils in one, ballpoints in one and marker pens in the third.
Some restaurants allow you to take a menu away or you can photo it; I have a collection which makes it easy to think of what to cook.
It is easy to ask for old wooden pallets; broken down you could have firewood (a neighbour does that) but I make things for the garden like the 8 foot long array of four shelves against a fence for potted plants5 -
Not sure if this is the right place but here goes. When watering the garden water goes everywhere. I keep the big empty milk containers, put a pin hole near the bottom and in the lid. Filled with water they drip onto the nearest plant, not everywhere. Am experimenting (have not got it right yet) at no hole in the lid but screwing it down just hard enough to slow the drips7

So do I. I think it's a word that Martin uses but generally more accurately. it's really an extrapolation of a computer hack or a glitch that allows you to take advantage of something unintended. It's not really appropriate in these circumstances when just asking for OS tips. Here it's just trying to make OS sound trendy.:D9 -
When my after shave balm, or any other thick liquid is nearing the end, just stack the bottle upside down in the cupboard. The next time you use it, the fluid will have had time to run down to the inverted top, and be ready for use.7

My 2 Cents
Only just this second discovered the blog otherwise I'd have commented here instead. Probably more to the point to. Oh well..6 -
I cut down all my plastic milk bottles and use them for protecting e.g. bags of sugar or flour etc etc. It protects the paper and is easy to hold.
I also use 1 litre bottles in the bedroom drawers for holding tights etc - keeps them tidy.10 -
I strip all usable parts from unrepairable handbags to use to repair good handbags eg. Zip runners and pullers, zip endstops, magnetic clasps, D rings and O rings. I do the same thing with old clothes such the Zip parts listed above, buttons and any toggles to do any repairs with.
We live in a throwaway society now but should use the tips our parents taught us.
My children always come to me to repair something, even my grandchildren say I can fix anything! Well I wish I could! but I will always have a damn good try.9
