Who claims when a flight is cancelled from Amsterdam to New York school trip!

Hi all,
I am just wondering who would claim for compensation, would it be me being the students father or would the school who booked the flights claim?
The flight was cancelled from Amsterdam to New York a few hours before they flew, they had to wait around the airport for the next flight. The original flight was meant to be at 13:35CET and the flight they flew on was at 17:37 CET.

Any information pn this would be grateful.

Hi. Download Vauban's guide for all the information you need on claiming.
It would probably better that each pupil claims individually.
I doubt the school will be bothered to do it unless there is some very keen member of staff, as it could get very messy for a large group.

You also need to be aware that a delay which is under 4 hours but over 3 hours late upon arrival can be reduced by 50%.

If it’s over 4 hours late it would attract compensation at the full rate of €600 provided that the cause of the delay was not classed as an extraordinary circumstance (EC).

The exact arrival time (first door open) could be crucial in this case.

    Good luck.
Please read Vaubans superb guide. To find it Google and then download 'vaubans guide'.
