Defaults and Getting a Mortgage 12th Nov 19 at 5:36 PM
Hello, I could do with some advice, here is the situation.

I am recently married and me and my wife are looking to move, we currently live in a house she owns so to upgrade we would need to get a joint mortgage.

The problem is I have a default on my account from a year ago and a poor credit rating from a credit card.

What I would love is some advice on ways I can either get the default gone and increase my chances of being able to get a mortgage.

It is worth saying my wife has an impeccable credit rating.

Hi gregthacker and welcome to the forum

It is possible to get a mortgage when you have negative data recorded on your credit files. You would just need a mortgage broker who specialises in adverse data.
I work within the voluntary sector, supporting vulnerable people to rebuild their lives.

    I love my job

You can’t “get the default gone”.

It will automatically be removed 6 years from the date of default.
