Hello All,

Just opened a stocks and shares isa with HL. I am starting off with around £100 and will be paying in £100 a month for here are on. My aim is to accrue a nice lump sum over a long term period 10-20years.

Please can someone recommend a fund that I should look to invest in? Their online tool has recommend the Aviva Global Equity Endurance fund. My risk profile is medium to high.

Not a fund you hear much about but it hasn't been running very long. It's a concentrated portfolio and has high charges. Perhaps have a read of this

I think I might just go for the legal and general uk 100 index as an initial starting point.

All your eggs in the one UK fund? Probably not the best decision you will ever make. Do read the article. Look for a single global fund, at this stage it's all you need

First watch both of these:-

Then consider investing in a low cost Global Multi Asset Fund. They have wide diversification while minimising risk, at low cost. There are a number of such funds.

You chose the risk level or share/bond split you are comfortable with, pay them the money & they do the rest. For example these two:-

With this you chose the share/bond split. They then will re-balance to maintain it at that split. You have to accept the market risk that goes with the split.

With this you chose the risk level (say balanced) you are comfortable with. They then re-balance the funds assets to maintain it at that risk level. This is called a “Risk Targeted Fund”

Look at diversifying - don't lump all your eggs into one basket.
