you need to be single household for sdp, as it was your fathers household, you were not eligable.

after he passed, you obtained single household status, therfore were awarded sdp.

you are not eligable for sdp for the peroid prior on this basis.

people are telling you incorrect information.

Whatever arrears you get will be "official error" and will be disregarded as capital for 1 year.
Unless you get more than £5,000, in which case it will be disregarded for rest of your ESA claim
no matter how long that turns out to be for.[/QUOTE]

Do you have the link for the guidance for this Epitome this is interesting thought it was twelve months

    Think this is it:

Arrears and concessionary payments of £5,000 or more
    When the disregard applies
    52512 The disregard applies where
    1. the claimant receives arrears of one of the benefits, allowances or payments
listed in DMG 52495 and, if appropriate, any concessionary payment to
compensate for the late payment of that benefit and
    Vol 9 Amendment 24 June 2017
    2. the total of the arrears and any concessionary payment (“the relevant sum”)
    is £5,000 or more and
    3. the relevant sum is paid to rectify or compensate for an official error (see
    DMG 03256) and
    4. the relevant sum is received in full by the claimant on or after 14.10.011
    .
    1 ESA Reg, Sch 9, para 11(2)(a) & (b)

No, they do not get SDP for that "mid-benefit week".
It is taken off from the start of that benefit week.

Just as, if DLA PIP is awarded from "mid-benefit week" SDP is added on to the claim from the start of the week.

Everything "mid benefit week" will affect the claim from the start of that week. The only exceptions are:

    WRAG / SG components
Prison and claim closures and starts in general.
Re-instating a suspended claim from a specific date.

If your "other benefit" continued to pay up to and including the last day of your benefit week, SDP (or whatever) would be taken off from the following week.

i.e. the other benefit can be there for a partial week when it is starting
but has to be a there for a full week, when it comes to an end.
