If you can stretch to £350 the Google Google Pixel 3a has just dropped in price pending new models from Google. It has the same camera as the more expensive pixel 3.

I have just bought a xiaomi mi A2 lite. £150 seems a fantastic phone for the money. It upgraded itself to Android 9 and is part of the Android One program which gives an element of future proofing.0

My vote would be for the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 - it was available for £500 on Amazon Prime Day, and while it's a little higher again now (roughly £585), for what you get in that phone, you won't find better value anywhere else.0

All depends on the OPs budget, I suspect £500 might be too much.0 -
Motorola's are a fairly safe budget choice. Just watch out they tend to have no compass which is infuriating.
I wouldn't say they are known for their cameras either. They are ok cameras but not amazing.0 -
Honor 9 lite here very happy.
Paid just over 120/140 last year after cashback must be cheaper now.
One was JL the other CPW.
The cheap one was a discount with 1 month sim that got cancelled.
If camera is your priority you might want something different.0 -
Wife and I bought one each of these 4 months ago -

Very pleased with them, the helpful CW guy transferred our EE sims for us. Camera is fine, just came back from a Danube cruise with some great photos. Sony software is a big plus and there is a full Guide on the phone with instructions for everything. We love them.I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.

The Samsung phones are generally overpriced for the specs. You can get more for your money elsewhere.0 -
