I bought a couple of books from the chazzer for £1 each yesterday. They were unusual titles and had never been opened much less read, including this one:

Boutique hospice charity shop hosting an everything 50p event to clear stock (not enough moved during all the bad weather) today. Got a nice simple t- shirt fabric dress in olive green from H&M. Was £2.50, which i would have paid but obviously 50p was even better. Dh and I had to go to the post office so we "went for a look" in the £1 cs. We came away with another vintage glass vase, I have a bit of a thing for old glass, a silk gant tie, another silk tie and a Tm Lewin shirt, total £2. The problem is that the compulsion to buy these bargains is not an issue for the bank balance but one for Dh's wardrobe. It's bulging! This pm we went out for a bite to eat with our 3 dds. A further charity shop beckoned. Only one dd would go in (she who is a lover of American thrift shops) she managed to get a human league lp for £1 and a DVD for £1. She also bought me a cashmere sweater for £4 as I've been looking for one to send to turtle doves in exchange for new cashmere gloves. To be honest it's probably too good to send off but it is 2 sizes too small for me. Healthy eating starts Monday anyway so I will hold onto it now in hope of weight loss and if that doesn't happen it will go off to be turned into gloves0

I admit to a shameful love of R0han products, although I have to be revived with smelling salts if I see them at full price. I have a few pieces bought heavily discounted in sales, and once got a pair of their trews for £8 in TK. I have been the lucky recipient of some wondrous R0hans from chazzers in the past few years, inc a pair of trews for 50p and a fancypants fleece for a couple of squid. Nothing but nothing beats the joy of the icebreaker merino wool crew top for 50p, tho. I'd coveted one of these in NZ (it's an NZ brand) but there's no way in heck I'd pay £80-£90 and they barely come down to half that on sale.
Later this year, I shall be passing through Yorkshire and Northumberland (Corbridge area). Can any of you bargain hounds recommend must-visit chazzers? Specialist interest is books, outdoor clothing, and more books. Thanks in advance.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Now there is a good idea GreyQueen a sort of 'what's good in your area in the way of CS's'
I am just back from a holiday on the IoW and the CS in Ryde are particularly good,also any of the Earl Mountbatten ones that are around there is one in Freshwater and another in Cowes,(the Cowes one is good for ex -yachties clothes) I bought a great waterproof jacket there last year for £2.00 it looked almost new.
My next holiday trip is in Stratford-upon -Avon in the first week in June for a week so I shall be with my friend who ,like me loves a CS (mainly we buy books ) but we have had some great finds whilst ferreting around the different places we have been to visit over the years
So recommendations for that area would be good

I had a great day at the chazzer yesterday. I didn't intend to buy clothes, but came out with a raspberry draped Kaliko blouse for my mum for £3, a Country Casuals top for me for £4 (I would imagine this to have retailed brand new at around £45) and a pair of Next trousers - BNWT, bought for £40! - in my exact size (14L). And 5 books for slightly more than I would usually pay, £5.25 but titles well worth it.
I was both happy with and laden down by my lot at that point, but was intuitively drawn to another....and came away with 6 golden cushions in great condition for £6. Will go with my decor perfectly. Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Interestingly I didn't find them to be brilliant in Sandown and Shanklin. Mind you, that was a few years ago. For me, nothing beats Inverness for sheer chazzer-heaven :AI am just back from a holiday on the IoW and the CS in Ryde are particularly goodValue-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

GreyQueen, any idea of your route thro Yorkshire? My specialist subjects are Leeds, Horsforth, Otley, Ilkley, Harrogate, Ripon & Thirsk if that's any help

As a suvverner, I admit to woeful ignorance of god's own county. I shall be coming up the A1/ A64 and spending one night in York YHA but prolly arriving after shopping hours (and will frankly be too tired from the long drive).
On the second day, going from York to Corbridge and then staying near there to do Hadrian's Wall etc. The last day will be wending from Corbridge to dahn sarf, if anyone could point out market towns where it would be good to stop for a break and a chazzer raid, sort of draw a line from Corbridge to Lunnon Town and I'll be somewhere close-ish to that line.
Thanks in advance, heading out to the lotties now, will be back this evening/ late afternoon.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Sandown has become quite run down lately which is quite sad as its got a beautiful beach, and Shanklin is the touristy spot for the visitors full of coaches and hotels not much in the way of CS at all.Ryde does have quite a lot though.0
