Almost 4 years ago I started a debt free diary called misstara's debt diary 2014. At that time I was over £10,000 in debt which was paid off earlier this year . I've decided to start a new diary as I've run up new debt although this time due to moving into a new flat that had to be furnished and buying a car.
The current debt stands at £1229.67 flat debt, £748.10 initial car debt (deposit and insurance) and £8663.38 car (split into 58 monthly payments of £146.82 and a final payment of £147.82) which adds up to a whopping £10641.15 it's actually more than my original debt
This year, I feel like I've got out of some of the MSE habits that I'd picked up so need to properly get back into meal planning, budgeting my pay (I still do this but then am not so strict with following it), making mini payments to the debt, NSDs etc.
Going to head to bed shortly but the plan for tomorrow is make a budget for January, look at days where I could possibly work for 2nd job so I can phone them when they reopen on Wed (I've not worked a shift for them for ages but it will be good to get some extra cash) and make a meal plan for next week.

Didn't want to read and run.
Hope the new diary helps. I read a lot of your old diary. Actually when I was googling debt help Months ago I found this page and your diary was top and I have to say it was very inspiring and really helped me. Big thank you. Made me feel not so alone sat with my credit card statements not knowing what to do.
Although I was a bit of a lurker but it was immensely helpful. You came accross very organised and determined. (If you've read any of mine you'll know that I am the opposite but trying).
Big thank you. MissTara! xxx2017- 5 credit cards plus loan

Though you have new debt, the expenditure was well thought through and I am sure you will reduce it, bit by bit, till its gone.
This time you have borrowed to provide a comfortable home - which is now furnished so that part is unlikely to grow for a good while yet and needed transport which has a proper payment plan. You've done really well and should be proud of yourself.
I'll be sat quietly in the corner cheering you on, very best wishes to you. Looking forward to reading your progress :-)0 -
Thank you Poor_Single_Lady, erniethecat, ani*fan, dawnybabes, INOD and Boodedoo for your comments. I'm feeling a lot more positive and motivated than I have done for quite a while. And I'm paid off this much debt already so I can do it againDebt Dec 2022 - £2972.68. Current debt - £0 (100% paid). Flat deposit - £10552.61/£15000 (70.4% saved). Budget for January - £1707.57
- £1100 usual household bills
- £150 food
- £150 car repayment
- £100 fuel/travel
- £50 social
- £25 emergency fund
- £25 car fund
- £10 thank you notes, stamps and toiletries
- £97.57 debt repayment
£100 fuel/travel includes travel back home for my mums 60th birthday, I haven't decided yet whether to drive or get public transport.
£50 social - I've nothing really planned at the moment but just in case.
I've decided to put money into two separate funds - emergency and car. The car fund is to save money for road tax and insurance. I put aside £50 last month so emergency fund currently stands at £25 and car fund at £75. I'm aiming to have £1000 in each.
I'm aiming to pay £200 off the debt this month with a stretch target of £250. I paid £97.57 today so only £103.43/£153.43 to find. £80 went to the flat debt so that's now at over 50% paid :T and the remaining £17.57 to the car debt.
Meal plan for this week is done
Soup and a roll for lunch (have got pea and ham, lentil and parsnip soup to choose from so shouldn't get bored)
Tues - hm sausage roll, mash and beans
Wed - beef stew
Thurs - veg frittata
Fri - chicken curry
Sat - pad thai
Sun - sausage casserole
All from what's in the fridge, freezer and cupboards already so should only need a small top up shop for fresh stuff this week.
I've also identified a few days that I could work for 2nd job over the next couple of weeks so I'll phone up on Wed and see if they've got anything.
Right better get off to bed as back to work tomorrow. Night allDebt Dec 2022 - £2972.68. Current debt - £0 (100% paid). Flat deposit - £10552.61/£15000 (70.4% saved). Emergency fund - £1428.98/£1500 (95.3% saved).0 -
