Should I beware of a bathroom fitting company who doesn't appear on Companies House listing ?
Also - the website does not have an address or any registration number on it ....

Is it a Ltd company? If not then it won't be listed at companies house.

What sort of registration number are you expecting to see on the website? Does the website have a 'contact us' link which may show an address?

If it's a small one man band operating out of his own house it might be ok.

If they claim to be a large company then probably not.

If only there was some way of seeing this website. There might be a clue on it.

Not every business is a company. Sole traders and partnerships don't register with companies house or need a registration number.

There are millions of us out there, it's nothing to be suspicious about.

Look for reviews or any kind of digital footprint that might give you an idea of how reliable they are.

You might not be looking for the correct name - it could be XXX Ltd. trading as YYY, so looking for YYY Ltd. wouldn't give a result on Companies House.

Limited partnerships (whether LP or LLP) need to register.

Conversely, don't assume that a limited company (listed by companies house) is 'safe' or reputable.

I can pay £12, and within 24 hours I could have a registered company called something like "The Worldwide Bathroom Fitting Corporation Limited" - even though I have no clue how to fit a bathroom.
