  • Count me in too please. I've started doing it with loose change. Just need to print a spreadsheet with it on so I can keep track and buy a sealed pot from the £shop.
Onwards and upwards with the occasional kick up the butt required! ;)

  • Glad to see there are a few of you willing to join in. :T

Do we all want numbers? To keep running totals or just keep our own in signatures?

I'm planning on using whatever I have for spending money for my holiday in August. Hopefully my OH keeps emptying his pockets out and leaving the contents laying around MY bank will be full in no time lol. :rotfl:
    JAN - £208.56/£250 NSD-8
    FEB - £121.51/£200 NSD- 1
    Penny a day challenge #001: £200.79/£667.95
  • I'm happy to go with the majority - but adding the challenge to your signature with your own number can sometimes encourage you to maintain what you started.

I did this in previous years along side the pounds to week challenge. It does help to get you into the savings mentality. It can be quite expensive towards the end especially as that comes just before Christmas, however one way to get round that is to mix up the days. So for example on week 1 you have 1p+2p+3p+4p+5p+6p+7p then on week 2 you have £3.64 + £3.63 + £3.62 + £3.61 + £3.60 + £3.59+£3.58 on week 3 you have 8p+9p+10p+11p+12p+13p+14p on week 4 it is £3.57, £3.56, £3.55,£3,54,£3,53,£3.52,£3.51. Another way is to start the challenge now, but to restart in November next year so that you have the money for Christmas 2019.

I took my money from last years tin in October for my holiday, which is why I have a bit of savings stuck away already.

  • I would like to join this challenge please, I have been working on it since the 1st jan, am doing pretty well already but will update on exact dates and figures once I get home as I am currently babysitting the grand babies!
    1p a day challenge TIN £106.96/667.95 :T. 270 payments to find.....1p a day challenge BANK 91p/667.95:eek:
  • Ok, I am home and have worked out my figures....
I am up to date until 13th March and have taken 6 days off the end of the year....as you may have worked out I am a taxi driver so I am trying hard to save my tips and use them towards this challenge in order to complete it.
How I am planning on tackling the bigger daily payments at the end of the year is to (hopefully) have enough to make my next days payment, 26p for example, then use any extra to reduce a days payment in December, this is how I have managed to take 6 days off at the end so far....(also enabling me to cash out before Xmas)
I am currently on £48.03 and 286 more days to cross off
I do not work weekends when tips could be higher :(

In addition, I am also doing the exact same challenge to my savings account but doing it properly so currently on 10p!! so...IF i manage to complete my tin challenge before the time is up, I then hope to be able to continue on adding to my bank challenge so I can double my total but I shall see how it goes.
This is the only money saving plan I am trying this year so I am VERY keen to reach my goals.

Sorry for the long post....happy penny hunting
