Thank you Gem-gem. I'll make sure I'll keep everyone posted and look forward to seeing how much everyone can save :dance:

It is always amazing to see what people save over the year. I wander how much we can collectively save over a year?

Room for a wee one? :) Wee bit late to the party, but better late than never...
I've got a wooden wine box that I'll be collecting them in!

Welcome MaudeLebowski, welcome, welcome. There is always room for a wee one. We have had people join in October and November before, so you are on time.
That is a new one, a wooden wine box as a money box. How many will it hold?
I will assign you a number, please look on page 1, post two to find it. Please do keep us updated with how you are doing.
    Good luck.

If it's not too late, can I join this challenge please.

Trying to cut down on using cash this year but have saved up £8 so far.

No specific usage in mind may be Christmas or pay for car tax/service due in November.

    Hello Iosbert,
You are not too late, you are more than welcome.
Yes, it is always a double edged sword, wanting to save £2 coins but also at the same time cut down on spending/ using cash. I will assign you a number please look it up on page one, post two.
    Good luck.

Spotted that the other half had a £2 coin so I collared him and swapped it for 2 £1 coins instead ;)

Hi, I just wanted to ask what the general consensus was regarding the rarer £2 coins in circulation? Are they worth keeping or trying to flog for a small profit? I have a great fire of London coin which is quite high up the rarity index but I watched one recently on an internet auction and it only reached £3.20 with free postage - hardly seems worth it!

I've also got a Brunel Paddington Station but apparently they're common.

    Thanks :)
I have never sold them but I went to an antique fair and there was someone there selling all of the coins plus sets for various prices.
The commonwealth coins always seem to have high prices against them on eb..y. The lower the circulation the more likely you are to sell them for more than face value. Good luck.

Has anyone ever sold any £2 coins for more than the face value?

Doing a little better this year, managed to be ruthless and cunning so I'm on £18.

(For ruthless and cunning, read 'carefully plan shopping / petrol buying to make sure the change is always more than £2' :p )

My hubby does that to get hold of his 50p’s.
