Congrats to DD2. Can sympathise with the emotional rollercoaster. My DS3 is off this time too and is very up and down. Mad with excitement one minute and stressed out the next minute. I am sure they will both be fine and loving it within a couple of weeks. We as parents however, may need a cold compress and a lay down in a darkened room :rotfl: You are doing so well with the OPs - great inspiration :T

  • There's a lot going on over here! Well done on keeping up with the money saving even with all the changes going on.

That's an impressive amount of walking mfd, that should help with the holiday preparations.
  • Thanks ETE,

Seems I had a bit of a brain dump last night... :D

I'm hoping exercise helps a lot.. although... need to control intake more :o

  • Off to the gym shortly, :D

Due to all the extra outgoings this month uni/holiday/dd2 birthday/W/e at uni, I have decided not to pay off car loan until next month and keep cash available without hitting savings too much. Car loan after yesterdays payment is £347, I'll round up @irbnb to £150 this week and next weeks £60 leaving £137. I doubt we will get anymore bookings for September as combined with night duty and annual leave we have only mon-wed available.... think this way it's saving me 0.2% interest :D (about tuppence) :D But it will keep my savings balance at the the preferred level.

I'm aiming to have £2.5k left in my Ts8 accounts by the end of our holiday.. (payday away :)) hitting the mortgage hard has left my sayings low... but I'm happy we've got this far :D

OH has been quietly saving for our hols.. that's a first in all of our relationship!! I've always been the saver. Money saving by osmosis has happened with costs and bargains at last (28yearslater)!!!
He has been buying company shares at £100 pcm for the past 2.5 years these sell at almost double now... but lately I've realised this is our EMERGENCY FUND and not my £2.5k :T :T :T

Not completely sure what we will do with these next year when they mature, keep until OH retires is one idea and he can retire earlier at 65 not 67 and these wouldn't cover salary loss but cover household bills. His pension is already paying out £200 pcm to him, so only minimal lump sum from his current job due. Other plan is cash them in for the mortgage. OH says mortgage, :D but we will then start the 3 year cycle again, OH says it will be made available again :D

I have been a bit worried that everything is in my name, I was thinking of opening a joint account that if anything happens to me my OH could a least eat and pay bills until insurances would be sorted, but now I won't have to :D

    Mortgage today £171000 exactly :D

  • All sounding very organised! I too control all our financial stuff and we have many many accounts! Mrs SJ always saying she needs to know but shows no real interest in finding out. So i have a box... she knows should anything happen to me she has to take the box to my sister who'll sort it all out!! Amazingly she's happy with that!

  • We have a concertina file, We are off on hols later this month... last year I got nervey a and messaged my friend to tell her where to find said file to let her help my girls (in the event of..)

I worry that although well insured it's not proper mortgage insurance as that was 3x the price and reducing, were as mine (aviva) is level term for 25 years. But my pension will support this too, so will have plenty of money if I'm dead :o

  • having a bit of a lazy morning :D

I have a couple of bags to go to cash for clothes place... that will reduce pile in bedroom a bit, DD2 was sorting her stuff yesterday.. DD1 took some and she also took a coat from next, which was a bit too fussy for me therefore worn once or twice. She's happy she doesn't have to buy a winter coat :T

in fact she's just walked in wearing it :D

Back to work tomorrow after 3 days off.... I say off but I've been with GD yesterday and all day today!!
pooped.... she's decided she likes me after all and is quite bossy. "stand up" "spin round" "cupcakes" (means water play in her play kitchen, the only thing my silicone cupcake cases do ;) ) I bring her to see my mum...she terrorises the pair of us so my mum is glad when we go :D mind my mum loved the facetime call too DD2 who happened to be there earlier.. I don't think that technology has reached her before :D

spent £10 yesterday and £5 today. only £3.50 was on food... bread, butter (clover) and strawberries.
needed new mop bucket, fabric softener and dog food.... chocolate mm, Still living from the freezer :)

DD2 is gong away tomorrow, her work is giving her a paid trip to centre parc. 4 x12 hr day plus sleep overs... she's thrilled.. little practise run before she goes to uni in 2 weeks :)

Guests are from Ontario.. well she is from Croatia but been in Ontario for years. They have spent the last 2 years travelling on motorbikes.. they will go next week to Isle of Mann, Ireland and then Europe.. ending in Croatia.. They are thinking of buying in the UK. have been touring all over Scotland prior to staying with us.... They don't go out much. They go to the supermarket on foot.... I showed her our laundry room (4th bedroom next to bathroom) she not left it :o , how can 2 people who have lived in a tent for 2 years and travel on motorbikes carry so much washing!! and shes used the tumble drier ....loads... :EEK

OH doing extra work again tomorrow and Tuesday... that should be £40 for the OP pot... and we did get another booking for Monday-Thursday week after next after all. A guy who only wants mon-wed nights and might move to the area.. Who knows what's around the corner :D These extra bookings will make up for my Spendy August..
