disciplinary procedure only 4 man company

Hi, Im trying to follow procedure and conduct a investigation following the immediate suspension of a member of staff, ive sent the member in question a letter suspending them and collected statements from my other staff members prior to any disciplinary action. My business partner is doing the investigation.

However im finding it hard to follow protocol. I feel I should have someone taking notes in the interview but I dont have anyone else who's not involved and not sure if my business partner is able to do so if hes done the investigation. From what ive read, it seems that I need to get someone independent.

Im just but a small business trying to do things right but it seems when wronged by an employee I everything still stacked against me.

any advice would be great.

Take a look at the ACAS website, it has loads of advice on disciplinaries.

I know there will be a cost involved, but can you find a local virtual secretary / PA who would cover a physical meeting for you?

Just thinking aloud here, if you have a solicitor you usually use, can they assist?

  • Can you dictaphone the meeting?
