LPA partial refunds available

The government are now offering partial refunds to people who paid for Lasting Power of Attorney between 2013 and the price reduction of 2017.

It only takes a few minutes to apply online.

This deserves to be more widely publicised, but there doesn't seem to be a way of flagging it up to the MSE team for their attention.

You can E-Mail the MSE journalists. "Contact us" seems to be a good place to start:

I put in an application for my husband and myself, which was easy to do online. It is supposedly for registrations after April 2013. Our POA's were registered 1 May 2013 and they have refused us. I have tried phoning, but started off at no. 34 in the queue, getting to no. 15 after 50 mins., when I gave up. I only get 60 mins. free calls included in my phone package. Frustrated, I have now emailed them. Will I get a reply this year.

Is it genuine? I have just been approached by the solicitor who acted for my father about this, but it doesn't feel right. Why would people be offered a refund? There is no explanation on the 'website'.

    It's very genuine.

People are being offered a refund because they were charged too much.

If you still don't feel right, ask your solicitor to explain it again.
