What is a suitable Android app for my tablet to let me make and receive free calls over free wifi networks?

Also easy to use for an aged OAP :rotfl:

No Virgin customer but won't be using Virgin all the time.

    For a fee not FREE!
WhatsApp if others are using it

Facebook messenger again if others are using it

Not phone calls to phone numbers though.

Buses have free wifi and sitting on bench at bus stop is near enough though have to be quick.

    Same sitting outside Tesco.

Just fed up with Virgin charging 26p min for every call as I had to call someone and they never had their phone on and never had their answering machine on so cost me £1.04 for nothing.

You can only do that by 'calling' people who have the same app as yourself.

None of them will allow you to call a phone number. Have you considered a better sim deal with some minutes included?

There are other mobile providers charging 3p, 5p or 8p per minute for calls to landline numbers, 03 numbers and mobile numbers.

Alternatively, a £5 per month pay-as-you-go bundle or SIM-only deal with give hundreds of minutes per month to those numbers.

    I know all that.

I usually make all my landline calls at the weekend when they are free, sometimes I have to call outwith that time.

Folk have tried to explain to you that you cannot get what you want.

They have helpfully tried to suggest things you can do.

If you don't explain what you want no point grumbling at the messengers just trying to help

    no point grumbling

I'm not grumbling, it's just that I find that with my landline phone I can hear better with it than my mobile but with my Android tablet and Bluetooth headset I can hear even better than with my landline phone so if there was a way to use that combination I would.

If you are calling from a landline, every provider has a deal with unlimited anytime calls to UK landline numbers and 03 numbers and in most cases also to UK mobile numbers for around £8 per month.

This avoids paying a per-minute rate or having to arrange to make calls only on certain days or at certain times of the day. At some point you have to pay something for services used.

Use your mobile and Bluetooth headset together then?

I also know that, however my last monthly phone bill for calls was 26p, hardly money saving paying £8 a month to save 26p.
