So I know I am normally one of the first to post notices of Cheap Listing Days, which is helped by a little bit of inside knowledge, but it's knowing when to call on that inside knowledge...

Over the last year or so I have compiled this list of all previous CLD's, and a summary of what they offered. There are a few distinct patterns amongst them. I'll update this thread as new promotions are announced.

  • Has anyone seen this:

"Half Price Listing Weekend 29th and 30th November-This weekend, when you list your car or any other vehicle on eBayMotors.co.uk you'll only have to pay a £4* insertion Fee, that's half the usual price. You can list using the Auction-style, Auction-with-Buy It Now, or Buy It Now Only formats.

    * T and C apply

(Too bad it is just motors, not anything else, but better than nothing!)
  • Since the later part of 2008, there has been a glitch which sometimes affects how paypal disputes are processed.

If you bought your item on ebay and paid with Paypal, your dispute should be handled under the BUYER PROTECTION process. If you fail to get your refund and you get an email saying your claim was processed under BUYER COMPLAINTS, it has been wrongly dealt with and you should ring paypal to explain what they've done wrong.

This bug should have been long fixed by now but queries are still trickling through about it!!
    My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j

This free logo maker is easy to use and creates a logo optimized for the eBay stores logo section, but can be used on any website.

    http://www.eshopbooster.co.uk/logomaker.php

It's simple to use, select the text, colours, effects and backgrounds, then save the image to your PC.

I thought it would be useful to mention the consumer's rights when buying in an
    online auctions from www.e-victims.org factsheets

When you buy in an online auction
You have just as many rights buying from a business trader on an online auction site as you do if you bought the goods from a shop - and sometimes you have more.

Extra rights when you buy online from a business trader
However, these rights only apply when you buy goods in one of a certain number of ways. This is because when you buy goods in one of these ways, the sale isn't a real auction sale, even if some form of bidding is involved. You will get these additional rights when:
    1. the items are being offered by auction, but you use an instant purchase or fixed-price option (for example, 'buy-it-now' on eBay)
    Right to Cool Off
The Distance Selling Regulations give you the right to change your mind and cancel an order within seven working days. Should you decide to cancel, notify the seller in writing, either by fax, email or letter. If you send a letter it would be sensible to use a proof of posting certificate or better yet - the "Recorded Signed For" service of the Royal Mail. Canceling by phone is not sufficient, unless both the buyer and seller agree.
    Time limits:
Goods: Seven working days after the day on which the goods are received.
Services: Seven working days after the day on which you agree to go ahead with the agreement.
Exceptions to the right to cancel
    • Perishable goods such as flowers or fresh food.
    • Customised goods that are made to your personal requirements or specifications.
    • Opened CD/DVD's and computer software.
    • Newspapers, periodicals or magazines.
    • Lottery, betting or gaming or services.
    • The supply of goods or services when the price is based on financial market fluctuations which are out of the control of the trader.
    Hi

The above rights apply to me, I purchased from a trader online with a buy it now. The item didnt fit properly when it arrived so I returned it within the 7 day period. This was back in November and they still have not refunded my money, so I no longer have the item nor my money!

I've raised a dispute with Paypal but they still havent concluded my case, despite asking me to return the item and provide tracking details (I had already returned it by that point anyway, as the seller had asked).

I'm really concerned now I will be left out of pocket, is my next course of action OFT?

Your problem is without proof of delivery back to the seller I can't see how any legal route would work. The seller just has to say the item never arrived back, and you can't prove it did.
