  • I just wanted to share the news that the FOS have upheld my complaint against CashPlus (or Advanced Payment Services) for several iAdvance payday loans I took out with them. I took a total of 189 loans between December 2011 and September 2016, 182 of which have been upheld. CashPlus have time to respond to the FOS, but just the fact that the FOS agrees with me is a bit of relief.

I know that is is partly my doing but the irresponsible lending on the part of CashPlus also contributed to a worsening debt situation. Thankfully I am now clear of that and rebuilding my credit file, but I feel that the sheer amount of loans I was allowed to take just shows how these companies prey on the financially vulnerable.

Hopefully, the industry has learned it's lesson and I have certainly learned mine!

FOS upheld my complaint against quick quid (took about a year) and have ordered them to pay back all the interest I paid on all loans apart from the first.

My wife had a load of PDLs dating back years - I only found out about claiming it abck about a week before wonga went bust. We got our claim in, got an email today to say it's been accepted , saying

"Please be aware, the payment you receive will be significantly smaller than your accepted claim value, as explained above.".

It's a shame I didn't find this sooner, we'd have got so much back. Be interesting to see what % we actually get back
  • Does anyone know the 6 year rule can you still claim even if the payday loans you took out were longer than 6 years ago?
  • Hi All,

I'm just looking for some information/advice from anyone who may know more or have had similar past experiences. I currently manage my own DMP which I still have 8 separate debts to settle. I got contacted about making a claim against Wonga for irresponsible lending from their administrators and I thought why the hell not? Last week I received an email from the administrator informing me that some of my claims had been partially accepted. In the email it states the claims came to a total of £256 however the sum received will be a small fraction of this. My Wonga debt is one of the outstanding debts in my DMP, although the debt is being collected by BPO. I still owe £207 and I am wondering if the claims total can offset this outstanding debt and that be the end of it?

After the initial response from Mr Lender saying they weren't sure why I was putting in a complaint, they've come back advising they have investigated my complaint and believe they did the necessary checks but have offered a £25 Amazon voucher. Has anyone else had this?

Provident is currently over the investigation time and is still looking into my complaint.

Still waiting for a response from Financial Obmunsmen in regards to SafetyNet Credit.
  • Well done mate

Nice to hear a feel good story

    Enjoy
  • October 12th, FOS find that Pounds 2 Pocket should not have given me loans and tell them to pay back ~£1,800 in interest, charges, fees, etc. They say Pounds 2 Pocket have until the 26th to make it right.

October 25th, Pounds 2 Pocket's parent company goes into administration. I'm told that I need to continue my complaint directly with them and that any refund I am owed will be significantly smaller than what I am owed.

You can't make this up! Haha!

At the very least could the administrators write off what I still owe (£790)?
    Make good financial choices, kids!

FOS are now looking into my complaint with SafetyNet Credit, so I'm feeling hopeful.
  • I wondered if anyone can advise what they send to the FOS when trying to complain about pay day loans.

I complained to both Sunny and Satsuma who both said they did no wrong. My complaint to FOS about Sunny was not upheld but I’m not sure i’m making a good enough case when i’m complaining? I have several other pay day loan lenders I am in the process of complaining to who I know will turn around and say they did all the appropriate checks.

I just want to make sure i’m doing it right when taking it to the FOS...
