Thanks everyone for the thread especially Pink, Rosieben and Mrs M.
We are away for a week, but we also have extra mouths to feed some of the time. I think I will try for £400 this month.
Current spend is £17 something - mostly on fruit and milk as I am also back on Slimming World. Trying to run the frozen chicken mountain down to make room for stuff from the garden.'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need' Marcus Tullius Cicero0 -

Well i did a big shop for me today, as we completely ran out of the basics. I.e flour, pasta, potatoes, you name it, we needed it.Still managed to get a pleasent shock at the till as i had only spent £34.55 . In all we've spent £75.38 due to the cat needing specialised food, oh needing lots of fresh apple juice and medicine, ni way is he getting a stomach ulcer now. So all in all not too bad. Going to try and bots and pieces in before Christmas before all the prices go up, again.
Right i'm off to nibble on a choccy biccy, yes i know i'm naughty but me and the boys want choccy .0 -
Just reporting the shopping expedition during which I managed to go to both Mr S and Mr T (unheard of for me!).
I had a £10 off a £50 voucher for Mr S and so the bill came down from £65 to £55 then I used £5 worth of Nectar points and redeemed the car aprk voucher (I usually forget) and so managed to save £15.50 in the end - very happy with that.
I did buy more meat and fish than I had on the list as they were on offer and a few extra freezer bits that will also prove economical in the long run so hopefully next week the shopping will just consist of fresh stuff.
Then I dashed off to Mr T (not the A Team one!) to convert my £5 clubcard voucher to a £10 voucher to spend on dog food. I managed to get enough to last him a couple of weeks at least and chewy treat things and had to pay the grand total of £1.10 for two big bags full. :j:j Wooftastic!
Off to update my sig but I think I'm just about on target give or take a pound or two for where I should be for the month and hopefully have allowed myself a saving on next weeks shopping by "buying big" this week.0 -
£2 spend today from a garden festival for the biggest celery plant and some huge beetroots. Will get the celery chopped up and in the freezer for the rest of the year.... it really was THAT big! Then maybe pickle the beetroots for my sister for christmas as she loves them in vinegar!Feb GC: £200 Spent: £190.790

Well I am still behaving and have about 45p left from the £100 I put in my purse on the 1st of the month so I am happy to shout from the rooftops that I did it!
I went into coop last night and bought packs of fresh burgers normally £4 for 80p-got 4 of those-else Id have about £4 left but they were too cheap to miss!
Today I was organised-did tuna mayo and salad sarnies for our lunch with tinned soup. Cat enjoyed the last bit of tuna and the salad was homegrown. Popped into Waitrose to buy anchor butter on offer at £1 each-only spent £2 in there. Went to the garage and "filled up" with the remaining £7.10 I had left.
Doing well with my Avon round but seem to buy bits-offers to sell at later dates-set up fee etc so not made a lot but it is picking up with people leaving me notes and asking for things. I know where a lot of my Xmas gifts will come from.
DD made a fruit crumble today from homegrown fruit. I just need to find something from the depths of the freezer for tomorrow.
Found a £1 in the carpark and bought a lottery ticket as its a rollover and added £1 to that I found in the car-I don't normally gamble but took the chance today.Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults0 -
Morning all
Spent just under £10 yesterday on T-bags, choc mousse, skinless sausages, rolls, meusli, spaghetti, and bananas.
Should be able to eat out of the freezer today - just need milk and marg so will update sig later.
I couldn't find any deals on T-bags yesterday in the local shops and I'm starting to resent paying for them. In the end (having decided against shoplifting!:rotfl:) I got T*sco own brand £1.40 for 80 bags (didn't sell anything bigger). I know this is still under 2p a cup but tea seems to be creeping up. I'm not ready to give it up yet but I don't really need tea and it set me thinking about what I could do without if it came to it!rablovesroo wrote: »Morning All,
Updated sig below with Wed's spend of £4.50 for load of thick bread, 2 pints milk and pack of smoked salmon for my brekkies! not too bad this week, had an NSD yesterday as ate at Mum's
Have just remembered that I give my OH £10 a week for food/misc allowance, so I have included that in my calculations. I know it sounds harsh but I've had no choice but to take away his Debit card for a while, as he cannot be trusted not to spend secretly on food! In June he spent £82 on snacks over the month, despite us buying packed lunch items, and I had no idea until i checked the statements! It seems to have done the trick though...

Well done I say! £82 is a LOT of money!Went to Morrisons yesterday for a few essentials, (including bread 30p and milk 50p) and spent £30.16 on groceries, but including a few items that I don't count in the grocery budget, the total spend was £36.30, it was a bit annoying therefore that I couldn't get everything I wanted, as some items were out of stock, because I had a voucher for £5 off a £40 spend and I would have been able to use it if they'd had the other items!
Now as it's school holidays when I take dd on a daytrip we usually invite one of her friends and I say "bring a packed lunch".This saves her friends having to live up to any false standards and wasting money as they know dd has a packed lunch. DD takes her own-I sometimes go off to a cafe with a friend but I know I am teaching dd good habits (her friends also)rather than payiing silly prices and waiting in endless queues.Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults0 -
Yikes, I've just totted up how much I've spent so far this month and it comes to a scary £94.82. That only leaves me with £35 to last until the end of august! I'm going to have to live off what's in the freezer if I'm to come in on budget.Mortgage-free wannabe #66 £105/40000
