The worlds largest Chevron service station is on the way to Primm, in Jean, NV. It opened about a year ago.

Also near Jean is the Pioneer Saloon. This is where Clark Gable waited for news of Carole Lombard when her plane crashed on Mount Potosi. The saloon has memorabilia about the crash etc if you’re into a bit of history.

    Love this thread!

Is there anyway of working out roughly how much you need / should take to vegas?

It’s my partners birthday and already flying her first class with a resort room at the wynn for 8 nights (possibly 9 cannot remember exactly).

Do hotel offer good deals for upgrades at the desk generally speaking?

We go late November and have no specific plans. We will have a rental car as I got an amazing deal on Range Rover too hard to pass up.

    Ta

Think of a figure then double it LOL then take some more to be sure!

I dunno if it works now, (someone will confirm it)but at one point you could *ahem* tempt the person at the desk with some green paper with numbers on it and they would see you right ;)
$20 3 years ago at the Venetian got us a lovely suite in with a Strip view for a normal resort fee* rate. It should have been about $30 a night more. We did ok imo. You can only try and see if it works.

    * I hate resort fees............And the car parking charges as well. That money could be 'wisely invested' in a slot machine.

We always got to the south outlet near the airport for the bargains. If you type in 'south outlet las vegas' you can sign up as a VIP. We did it in 2016, took the printout to the customer service desk and got a booklet with deals and discounts in it. They won't spam you or anything, I think I've had about 4 emails in 3 years.

Even if you don't sign up, you can look at the map. I highly recommend Skechers, VF, and Levi's. They are quite a bit cheaper than over here. And there is a place where you can buy an extra suitcase too. ;)

We prefer there than the Fashion Mall. I'm not a massive fan of there, some of the shop workers are extremely pushy. South Outlet is more chilled out.
    Happy shopping.

Credit Struggle, well done on planning such a lovely trip. We are staying at the Wynn for one night, as I won it on Wynn Slots. Apparently, if I don’t use the pool or internet, I don’t have to pay resort fees. I’ll see how far I get with the data included on my 3 Sim,lol.

p.s don't forget. American sizes are different to what they are here so don't forget to try things on. I love it 'cos I can get away with being a size 8 in jeans when I go over. It's wonderful :D

Embarrassing moment-All this time I never knew which was which! :o Thank you for explaining beautifully which one is the south outlet :T

Thanks all.... I went to FSM years ago and it wasn't particularly cheap... will try the others.

I'm fine to drive out to Primm (we have a car anyway) and I think some of the group would like to cross the border just for the experience of being in California I guess.

We went to Primm in May, mainly for the Le Creuset shop, only to find it closed :( Probably about half of the shops are open now, and not as many bargains anymore. As an example, I went into Tommy's, picked out a jumper, expecting it to have a nice discount. Imagine my surprise when the till showed $79 and nothing off the price. If I remember rightly, I needed to buy 4 items to get 25% off.

To compare, the same jumper in either North or South outlet cost me half the price. Be aware you now pay for parking for at the North outlet, but not at the south

In saying that, Primm is a nice little destination. And you can catch 7 Magic Mountains on the way, and Bonnie & Clyde's car is in one of the casino's. Like Pebbles mentioned, Chevron gas station is actually worth a visit, and a bit further up from that is the Pioneer Salon.

    .

I would guess that's closing as well, we were there in June and the savings were very good (Dress shirts $16) you did have to buy 4 items to get every discount and then at cash point you are asked if you want to donate $5 to a charity (cant remember what it was for) if you do that you get another 10% of everything you have bought.

Aeropostle shop was far cheaper than North or South outlet.

Levis were same price but you only had to buy 2 pairs to get the cheap price' at both North & South outlets you had to buy 3 pairs.

Tommy Bahama - Gulp - full price on everything so we bought nothing :rotfl:

But venture off the first (entrance) walk and everything else was closed down, can't see it lasting much longer.

Haha!! TBH, I didn't even know there was a North outlet until I read it on here recently.
I've never been to the North one. It's now on the list.

Wait, just seen that you have to pay for parking at the North Outlet. UGH!!! They'll be charging to park at Walmart next..

The best we ever did at Primm was when we went last time and we went into Calvin Klein and got a 25% discount card for Tommy Hilfiger next door.
But, even at CK we got some decent items for about half the price than they charge over here.
In fact, the bloke who served us (he said he plucked up courage to ask) wanted to know why so many British people came to CK's and buy lots of t-shirts, etc, in the States. He said that they made up the vast majority of the sales.
We said it was 'cos for the price of CK items over here, we can get twice, if not 3 times more stuff over there.
Hence the questions 'how much is food?' & 'How much is gas'.
Nice fella, but his jaw hit the floor when we told him the price of petrol per litre. :rotfl:
It's a shame to hear that half of the stores are closed. Primm is ok for a drive out.

I have always loved Primm for cheap stuff, but it sounds like it’s losing its charm. We always got great deals on bath and body works in comparison to the Vegas stores. I actually got some DKNY T-shirts for $5 each a couple of years ago and I got 2 other tops for $2! I’ve worn one loads of times and it’s getting a bit bobbly, the other is only worn once and is pristine. I love those tops. End of rant.

Go to Primm and get stuff for cheap that is full price in FSM.
