Spent 30 mins on the phone to HSBC and it was a no to reducing my interest. It continues to be 17.9%. So my plans will change. I need to put the money I will earn over the summer holiday into this one as it now has the higher rate of interest.

Today I took the bag of 2ps and 1ps we found in the cupboard under our stairs to the bank. £6.50! I paid it off my credit card.

The other day I impulsively bought some sandals from the middle isles in Aldi when I was doing the shopping. Took them back today and got a refund.

A senior manager at work is leaving soon. I do owe her an enormous amount of gratitude. I was thinking of writing a letter to express that. However, we have been asked to contribute £20 to her collection. Surely with these things it is about how much individuals can afford to contribute?

Have found some more things to sell on eBay at the weekend.

Following my car service, I need 2 new tyres and my brake pads are 80% worn. This is when I wish I had an emergency fund.

It was a fun, busy weekend. Got to knuckle down this week and do some eBay selling etc. My first week's work in the summer holiday has been confirmed and I will be paid weekly so that is really something positive to focus on. I cannot wait to get that extra money coming in.

I must start to tackle my overdraft. I just had a look at my account and the fee/interest this month will be £12.62 which is an increase from the £9 and £10 I have been paying lately.

I think that is all my news.

Congratulations on getting some summer work. Extra income will help certainly.

An emergency fund is certainly something which is worth tackling alongside the debt reduction. Ideally though car maintenance should be saved for monthly especially if you drive an older car which needs more maintenance.

I am with you on the leaving collection. No one should be telling people how much to put in. Just put in what you can afford.

    Hi

I am starting the 1% challenge. I can see how it could be motivating to keep going with the debt busting and not to spend any money frivolously.

This week I have been thinking about how I might feel on the day (in July 2020) when I will have no debt.

So 24 months away. Not really too long. Definitely achievable!

This month has been challenging for spends but today my Barclaycard statement came through.
    Balance is in three figures.
The minimum payment would be £21 if that was the option I was going for.
The estimated interest next month is £5.
Feels so much better than the previously 4 figure balance it was, the £65 minimum payment and the £30/40 interest.
Yes, £500 of that debt is on an. aqua card but on the positive side, there!!!8217;s no interest to pay at the moment. My summer job starts in under 2 weeks.
    Things are ok!

    I Believe.....
That it isn't always enough, to be forgiven by others.
Sometimes, you have to learn to forgive yourself.

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery
Today is a gift. That's why it is called the present.

happiness isn't achieved by getting extra things,
but by getting rid of the things that make you unhappy
