I came across this exercise suggested for seniors, to build muscle strength in the arms and shoulders. It seems so easy, so I thought I'd pass it on. The article suggested doing it three days a week. Begin by standing on a comfortable surface, where you have plenty of room at each side.

With a 5-lb. potato sack in each hand, extend your arms straight out from your sides, and hold them there as long as you can. Try to reach a full minute, then relax. Each day, you'll find that you can hold this position for just a bit longer.

After a couple of weeks, move up to 10-lb. potato sacks. Then 50-lb. potato sacks, and then eventually try to get to where you can lift a 100-lb. potato sack in each hand and hold your arms straight for more than a full minute.

Once you feel confident at that level, put a potato in each sack.:D

I have deep envy of everyones bargain stalls and shops this afternoon, even though technically I am not needing anything :)

Especially ground coffee which OH buys - mostly he buys it for work :(
And the gingerbread candles, my own fault as they were still around at the start of April when we got home ...

We have though made it to Sainsburys today with the recycling. Mostly I was in search of shopimum freebies which our store does not stock but I live in hope.
I did though get the free Primula cheese tubes for shopimum - good for going on the numerous free crackers type things we got last month.

Sainsburys are making a huge effort to promote their own brand items now at lower prices - they are actually making a very good effort so if anyone normally avoids Sainsburys then its worth another look see - every section has red lower priced SELS - off the top of my head I noticed on the cook in sauce section various curry and spiced type jars for 63p and pasta type sauces for 83p or similar - much lower than the branded versions. At first glance I wondered if they were RTC but it seems to be the new low prices.

    For instance

Sainsburys have their own brand cat food tins in gravy - they have just rebranded their own cat food and they are part of the low price range. The packs of 6 tins are now £2.30 (were £2.50) so that's 0.38 per can - cheaper now than Aldi canned food which is/was 0.39p a tin - so a regular shopping list item has now gone from the Aldi list onto the Sainsburys list

Interesting. For ages the Value Peanut Butter was 65p in Tesco and Sainsbury and Asda, something like that anyway, then all of a sudden it went up to 90p in Sainsbury, so put that jar back and bought in Asda. Now it is 65p in Asda, 70p in Tesco and Sainsbury. I try to stock up in Asda but can't always get there, Sainsbury is generally more convenient than Tesco as there is a small one in a town I go to.

CoS has processed my first ever cash back payment today :j

I will wear my Elite badge with pride now. ;)

Just over £20 in one month and all stuff I will use I think maybe not the Happy Downs :o

Well done, and that's the way to go, stuff you need/will use.

I had a :money: lightbulb moment
when I realised that I didn't have to buy cheap sweets as fillers, but buy stuff I would use, like 1 onion, 1 carrot!

PS , I've looked and looked, but never found a Happy Down yet!

Yes I just had a look at mysupermarket and it said your peanut butter is 20% below its average price - a significant price change.

If this is typical across quite a range of products its well worth having another look at Sainsburys

In our small store its not on the section - its on an end fixture.
I tend to screen shot the peculiar things I need so I've a picture so when I can track down staff we go on a treasure hunt for them :)
