How are they defining most polluting diesel cars I wonder? Found that those impacted will be moved up one tax band, but nothing about what's getting moved.

Hardly. An income tax cut for 70% and a stamp duty abolition for 95%.

The only place that doesn't affect "the vast majority" must be where George Osborne lives!
Please be polite to OPs and remember this is a site for Claimants and Appellants to seek redress against their bank, ex-boss or retailer. If they wanted morality or the view of the IoD or Bank they'd ask them.

No income tax cut for anybody. It's an increase in line with inflation so in real terms, no change

    !
Which will be entirely replaced by the higher house prices it creates.
Did you really mean to put loose?
Lose: no longer possess, not to retain, unable to find
Loose: not firmly or tightly fixed in place

I've always paid stamp duty including my first house over 30 years ago, why shouldn't everyone else, unless I can get a refund 🤑

Technically it is your second house purchase, your first house purchase was the one you made with your parents.

I am afraid this will not apply to you.

95% of people in the country are FTBs?
  • I was just so relieved that the threat of cutting income tax relief on pension contributions for 40%ers didn’t come to fruition. That could have been very costly. Phew.........
I came into this world with nothing and I've got most of it left.

No, the 95% figure means that 95% of first time buyers will be 'helped' by the changes to stamp duty.

No, the 95% figure means that 95% of first time buyers will be 'helped' by the changes to stamp duty.

Which undermines Mersey's claim that 'the majority of people' will be helped by this.
