I am sure you are all on top of this, but for those who haven't heard, the round pound coin won't be legal tender from October.
New 12 sided pound coin coming in March.

For those of you with unbreakable containers......

Hope this helps more than hinders.

Thanks for the heads up lr1277 - something to consider for everyone with sealed pots:o

I really struggling to put a £1 a day away so I think I need to take the money out for the whole month right after pay day and put in a tin. How does everyone else do this?

It's whatever suits you best fennmad, I prefer a sealed tin and although I might not have £1 or £2 each day, I do make sure I keep up to date so might put 3 days worth in one go.

Some people use vouchers or have an on-line account, it doesn't really matter where you put your money or how you save it...it's the method of least temptation that works:o

I continuepotting my £1 everyday.OH is also helping out by throwing in coinage regularly (random amounts,I am guessing-don't think he bothers counting out the coins). So in for a pleasant surprise in Dec :j.

Yes, but no need to panic your bank will accept the coins after October, and as this challenge is for xmas 2017, you will be banking the total in November/December anyway...

Just bag them and pay in as you would do if they are not going out of circulation, the banks will then keep the coins and will be giving out the new coins, so eventually they will disappear from circulation, just like the notes before them.

You will not have to do much more then you did in previous years apart from the banks wont then give the coins back out and they will be banked instead.
