OMG everyone i have the best news!!

So husband finally did his tax return after 8 months of nagging) and calculated he was actually owed £3k. We didn't dare believe but were very surprised today to receive an email from HMRC saying he was actually owed £3086 and that he would be paid shortly!

So happy!!!!!!!!! This will take the loan down to £5200 and nearly pay off all my student debt so we just have the car left. If we then just paid off £850 a month the whole thing will be paid off by July!!

Still won't absolutely believe it until the money is in our account.

Currently celebrating with beer and chocolate and a film and feet up!!

That is absolutely wonderful news on the tax refund crunchy! :T. Just think hopefully the debt will be all done and dusted in a few months and you can start letting your adventures happen. I'd wait until then and buy the ring - it will be even more special if you can buy it with funds you have already in the bank!

Am joining you with a celebratory beer!

P.S. I try to "slush" as well!

    Thanks guys!

Woke up this morning feeling that little bit closer to achieving my dreams.

Husband and I started making a 'bucket list' last night.

Just drinking coffee and then going to go for a run. Only managed two so far this year because of the illness and the husband working away so very much looking forward to this one. Then husband and son have hair cuts whilst dd and I run errands. Nice family day.

Must do some work tonight though - got some very overdue stuff to do.

    Happy Saturday everyone!

OMG!! Spoke to the parents this weekend and, long story short, they are giving my siblings and I some inheritance early. £2,000!!!!! Each!!!

    Guess where that is going???

Can't imagine the loan being about £3k in a few weeks time. Just cannot imagine it.

Going to have a lie down.

  • You are making great progress paying off your debt. Don't want to put a dampener on things but have you checked that the email from hmrc is genuine. I have received several emails from them saying that I was due a refund but it was a scam. Apparently they don't inform you of tax refunds by email. This could be completely different circumstances though. Just check it out.
