6 NSDs so far this month. I set a target of 7 and I'm sure I can beat it by Friday.

Currently at 8 NSDs and hoping today is also one, making a total of 9 this month :j

It's been a very spendy month, but I always knew it would be as it's the summer holidays. Most of the things I've spent on were saved for and those that weren't were things that I've been putting off for a long time, and within budget.

Not entirely true though, is it? I need to learn that just because I'm not borrowing to pay for something doesn't make it within budget. During July and August I haven't needed as much Grocery budget as usual. In fact, I've spent between half and two thirds of what I normally do. Now, the rule (my rule) is that unspent Grocery budget goes straight to the debt. Instead I've been using it to pay for things like storage shelves and laundry baskets (I know, how can I bear the excitement :p). While I can tell myself that these spends were necessary (I think the state of my home has been contributing to my depression and anxiety), that's not the same as being in budget. If I need to buy these things then I need to allocate in the budget for them. The same applies to clothes. I tend to spend money on these things based on what's left over at the end of the month, but that should really be going towards the debt. If I allocate a realistic budget to categories like these then I can still do them but hopefully not use up everything that's left over at the end of the month.

Sorry, I'm rambling. I'm not sure that this will make sense to anyone else reading it but I know I need to do things differently from the way I have been. All ideas welcome :D

things for the home - my focus hasn't really been on saving this summer. (Maybe you noticed :rotfl:) I've spent all my spare time trying to dig my house out from under all the clutter. I'm finding being surrounded by cr*p all the time really affects my mood so I'm trying to get rid of things I don't need/want and organise what's left. (That's where the spending part comes in :o) My friend just came over and I've offered her my spare single bed, which will force me to clear out that room too :o

This has worked really well. I have unburied an entire room that I no longer need to be ashamed of. It still needs some furniture to make it useable, but at least I know that all the things that are in there are things that I want or need. I will allocate a budget towards furnishing it and I already have lots of paint to make it nice.

Edit to add: my minimum payments next month are a total of £72.72, so I will reach 10% next month. To reach 11% I need to find another £7.62. To reach 12% I'll need another £60.94 on top of that, plus another £18 or so to cover the interest.

Target 1: [STRIKE]£7.62[/STRIKE] to reach that 11%. Every little helps :p
Covered by additional earnings in August
Target 2: [STRIKE]£18 to cover that pesky interest [/STRIKE]
Mostly covered by additional earnings in August, the remaining £3.27 covered by unallocated budget at the end of August
Target 3: £60.94 to reach 12%. This would be amazing, but is highly unlikely :o
Some covered by unallocated budget at the end of August, £7.35 remaining

Let's see how close we can get ;)

So, £7.35 to find to make an additional payment next weekend.

So I made an overpayment of £86.56 to my BC on 11 September. That means I reached all the targets that I set :T and have paid off 12% of my debt :T

    Current Totals
    BC 897.65 under £900 :T
    BoS 854.80
    MBNA 3608.54

    Total 5360.99

Original total was £6093.42, therefore I've paid off just over 12% :)

Time for some new targets for the beginning of October.

  • 1% of my debt is £60.94.

In October my minimum payments are
    £25.60 BC
    £8.55 BoS
    £36.08 MBNA
    £70.23 Total

That will take me to beyond 13%, so I need to try and hit 14, or even 15%

I will also be charged interest of £13.85

    Target 1
    £13.85 to cover the interest

    Target 2
    plus £51.65 to reach 14%

    Target 3
    plus £60.94 to reach 15%

That's a total of £126.44  I've got no chance of reaching the 15% target to be honest, but I didn't think I'd reach my 3rd target last month and I did, so I'm putting it out there anyway. I think the combined target 1 & 2 total of £65.50 is easily achievable, so I need to try really hard to eat as much of that 3rd target away as possible. So far I have 44 pence :rotfl:
