Reducing stocking filler plastic

We are trying to buy more quality stocking fillers this christmas and less quantity with an attempt to reduce novelty plastic that DD only looks at for 5 minutes. Does anyone have any good ideas?

bamboo toothbrush

lush bathbomb (minimal packaging)

reuseable water bottle

colouring / drawing pad made from recycled paper

socks/undies/pjs in designs that will last year round

I tend to put in things that they would need during the year. So things like

Hair bobbles

coin purse (if she attends school discos etc and ever needs cash on her)

Toiletries that are just hers rather than for household use

What about re-usable straws?

My daughter at that age once said that stocking presents should be like a lucky dip, but each prize you got out was something that was aimed at your own life. I found it easier to come up with ideas once I thought of it that way.

Soap bars
Bamboo toothbrush
Recycled paper notebooks
Seeds and planters with labels
Books on various eco subjects
Slogan t-shirts
Magazine subscription (eco kids is a good one)
Hat and gloves set
Reusable drinks bottle

That's a good one. You can make your own bug hotel from hollow canes etc- perhaps component parts in the stocking. one idea here:

Cut paper squares from magazines, wrapping paper etc for simple origami.
Put in with links to YouTube sites to show her how to fold.
You can also wrap presents in magazine paper.

Homemade gift vouchers for experiences. They can be things you enjoy together and would probably do anyway.

A recipe eg for cookies with a special ingredient eg chocolate chips

Some little terracotta pots that can be painted with their own design and some packets of seeds to grow flowers fruit herbs.
